This small restaurant near Hackescher Markt has a lot of charme, Very friendly and helpfull staff and the food is excellent. Very good German cheese. The recommended wines went very well with the food. Tasty desserts and cakes. We were here with teenagers, no small children.

The local is interesting. The decor is cool. The furniture is simple and warm. The plate selection is interesting. The food is tasty. The latte machiattos are excellent. Pricing is a bit high but the service is excellent (fast and courteous). Crowded on weekends. I would go back.

We visited it for breakfast. There were several types of it and we chose a classic American with scrambled egg, sausages, bacon, beans and salad. We were served 4-5 different types of bread. Everything was delicious and the waitress was rather welcoming. Our Sunday morning was delightful.

Great choice of breakfasts - had an "Island" which was similar to a fry up and had great produce. Our friends had the big strandbad for sharing and was more than enough for two people. The coffee was of excellent quality.

We went to Strandbad Mitte for a Sunday breakfast/brunch. We shared a cheese breakfast and a feta omelette. Both the omelette and the cheeses were very tasty and not very expensive. The bread basket that came with them was a little less impressive, in both quantity and freshness. Service was OK. Overall, very tasty breakfast for a decent price in... More

Loved this restaurant. I stumbled across it on my way back to my hotel one day and it looked so relaxed and sweet, so I went in and loved the place. Good wifi, nice staff and delicious food. They offer free mixed breads with dip and water. Loved the open ravioli with mushrooms and sausages.

Great spot tucked away in the back streets of Mitte, not before 10am but great for a late breakfast with all the trimmings. Awesome fresh orange juice

Looking for a quiet, warm and dry place to have dinner, and happened upon this gem in the area (Monbijou) around our hotel. Excellent dinner: al dentee ravioli with fresh chanterelles; and sautéed cat fish on a bed of yummy quinoa and tender baby broccoli. Even the bread and butter was good! Good conscientious service but not over done. Everything... More

...but a jolly place to sit outside at the desk-style tables for a fish dish and a glas of riesling in the summer.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
