The atmosphere is unique, a gym turned into a restaurant! It's a huge place so its good for groups. The biergarten is great and the food truck is amazing.

I just had lunch at the Turnhalle. I was looking for a Beer Garden and ran into this amazing old school Gym Building. The server was nice and worked with me through my broken German but the star of the show in my opinion was the Chicken and Curry Flammkuchen, sort of like a thin crust pizza but it is... More

We were a group of 27 who booked 3 weeks in advance. When we arrived our reservation had been forgotten. A wedding party had the booking in the hall. No apologies for the mistake. We were told that there was no food after 7.00 pm even though our reservation was for 7.00 pm. The service was surly, rude and arrogant.... More

Went there for dinner... Didn't know what to expect and were surprised 😊 It was an old gym hall made in to a restaurant, café, cocktailbar and lounge... The food was good, the price ok and the service very pleasent😊 They had a huge drink card 😀

Trying to find somewhere to comfortably dine with 15 friends isn't ever easy but this place made it possible. It doesn't look like much at all from the outside in fact, we discounted it a few days previously but don't be put off. Inside its a really cool space with lots of large tables. The menu was varied but all... More

Visiting Turnhalle in Berlin during a Business meeting with the company was a very nice experience. It has a unique atmosphere with pictures of Helmut Kohl, Ronald Reagan, Mikhail Gorbatjov and J.F.K. Really shows the importance Berlin had in the 80's and 90's up until the reunion. The food was placed on a buffet and it was quite ok -... More

This restaurant is very cheap so even though the dinner was not that impressive it could not be expected to be better.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
