I have been coming back to 'Il Pane e e Rose' for some years, whenever I have been staying in Berlin. The food is ALWAYS excellent. I have not had a single disappointent. Try their linguini with truffels. Blows you away. All is authentically 'modern Italian', something you would expect in a hippy area of any Italian major city. Staff... More

This is a Berlin original, one of the first Italian restaurants in the East and still one of the best. Everything from very fresh fish, fancy meat dishes and super value-for-money expert Pizza. Thanks you Bekim & Tony.

We have been there more than once, and everytime we go we come out happy. The price is right, and the service is quite good. The place could be a little more interesting, but it is not bad, classic restaurant.

A choice of very reasonably priced large pizzas (not from wood oven) or a more expensive traditional menu, limited but good choices to be made. Wines went from quite cheap to some surprisingly expensive for a restaurant of this kind. Somewhat off the beaten track for Mitte, and probably not worth going out of your way to get there -... Service is very friendly. The sine list is good and extensive. I've been here many times during many years and never been disapointed. Food is very good and nicely presented.

We had come to Berlin to visit our daughter and her boyfriend. Came across Brot und Rosen. Great atmosphere. Food amazing and great value. Our daughter had a truffle pasta dish which packed huge flavour. All dishes very tasty. Brilliant evening and friendly staff.

I went several times. The first time it was an agreeable surprise; I was never disappointed.thereafter. The cook is a real master; the vines are excellent; the athmosphere simple but "raffinata" The same restaurant in Italy would be three times more expensive.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighbourhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighbourhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
