The food here was very good and pretty reasonably priced, genuine german cuisine. The apple strudel was phenomenal!

Genuine German food, with an interior and staff completend the picture of local food culture. Had the Haxe with a Weissbier, wonderful! As German as it gets!

During a recent city break to Berlin, my wife and I ate in this restaurant on two occasions. It is typical Austrian/German with the staff dressed in local costume. Food is typical Austrian. Great menu and quality of food was excellent. Reasonably priced albeit wine by the bottle was expensive. It is a busy restaurant. That said, we did not... More

We went for drinks at the end of an evening. We sat outdoors and enjoyed being at this restaurant. The beer was good and the service was helpful and charming. Only regret is that we didn't eat there because the food looked delicious.

Recently went for the um-teenth time and as always, excellent food and pleasant service. Traditional Bavarian food done well. The roast pork knuckle (Schweinhaxe) is among the best I have had anywhere. But everything is a hit here. And budget friendly. Reservations not necessary. Looking forward to the next visit.

Very nice place, well maintained, and spacious. Good food and beer (Paulaner ++) Took a little time to be served but not extremely long. Restaurant was probably 2/3 full on a Saturday night.

A great variety of food. Very characteristic. Waitresses have been really nice. We went there twice. Free wifi, as well.

Booked a table here and had a great meal although it was just too much food! Delicious beer and a good atmosphere too.

Maximilians is cosiness personified! The restaurant has impressive copper and brass pumps and rustic-style furniture. It specialises in Bavarian cuisine, offering a large selection of good hearty food such as carpaccio dumplings and meat loaf, roast potatoes, fried eggs and Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes) served with apple compote. The waiting staff who are garbed in traditional Bavarian dress are constantly on the go, looking after the clientele of tourists, locals and Bavarian émigrés. This restaurant which is situated on the river Spree celebrates the Oktoberfest in September. The restaurant offers a selection of beer and wine.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
