Bad start I am afraid...I know we have that guilt ... those that dont speak the foreign language when travelling... but when four of us walked in... a lady passed me... and I asked are you serving food... "VASS, ... VASS, ... VASS" she snapped back. Then simply dumped four knackered menu's. The menu, the venue, and the food really... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel (art'otel) - but I have no idea why as it's one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to in my entire life, the service was dreadful and the food was beyond tasteless. I will not be going back.

We visit the place just to eat somethig traditional. At first we sut down to a table and into 3 seconds one waitress told us in very rude mood that the table we chose was reserved. I can tell you that the restaurant had another 5 simillar tables to that one so we change the table without making complaints. The... More

We loved everything about this place: the waiter was really friendly, the food was tasty, they have a variety of beers which we tried.. I would come back here anytime !

We went to Kuchen Kaiser to have some drinks. The waitress approached us without greeting us or saying any other word. It took ten minutes to serve three drinks (each separately). "A coke with lemon and without ice" (ordered in German) was taken for "Sprite". The straw that came with the iced coffee had a dead insect in it. The... More

This is a traditional, biggish place with a small beer garden outside. The Flamkuchen is quite tasty -- but overall the food is not what brings people to the place. The athmosphere in a quaint part of Kreuzberg, however, is quite fetching and the location near the former Wall recommend itself. We did not suffer any of the interminable waiting... More

I was there with my husband and my kids (between 19 and 2 years old) and we were very well received by all the waiters, who are very nice and kind, even though we didn't speak a word of German. We enjoyed a lot the food (nice schnitzel and strudel with cream:P) and music too. The atmosphere is cosy and... More

I was underwhelmed. I expected this to be a highlight, but it missed the mark. The food was good, but we were never made to feel welcome. Maybe we hit them on an off-nite

I was there for a biz lunch. A colleague of mine suggested to meet there and ordered the "leber und blut wurst" along with leberkase... all very, very good! If you are into this kind of food, the place is definitely a must.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighbourhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and '60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and '90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighbourhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
