Very friendly English speaking staff at this subterranean restaurant two blocks from the Außenalster. An easy walk from our hotel on An der Alster, it was exactly the type of food we were looking for: schnitzel, bratkartoffeln, and some German wine. The staff is very friendly (as are the patrons). At the adjacent table, the couple in their 30's offered... More

Hidden treasure of a German restaurant, blink and you'll miss it. Service was excellent and concise menu with a bit of humour really showcased traditional German cusine. Highlight Decor and service was best we had in hamburg Chocolate lava cake was very good. Toilet signs were funny Lowlight Abit pricey. Keep for a last night or a special meal. Over... More

Maybe, we are not responsive to the underground, dark, musty feeling of the place, that is supposed to be a very old place. Service was unusually slow and not very attentive. the food was OK, but thew worst we had in our 2 days in hamburg. We do not understand the above average ranking of this place.

....and was certainly the best meal we had! Wow what a wonderful setting, candles, rustic furniture and a pianist playing familiar quirky tunes. Great ambience. Food was just as amazing, beautiful cucumber salad with fennel and bread to start. Then I had the Beef Roulade with veg & mash in a rich gravy sauce. My husband had the veal meatball... More

We only came for a couple of beer´s but could have stayed for the rest of the night! The staff was great and the atmosphere was really nice! The food looked great as well. Next time we'll visit Hamburg we'll definitely order food and have plenty of nice drinks here!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant out after reading the glowing reviews about it on TripAdvisor. We were definitely not disappointed. We had no reservation but were seated immediately with no hassle. The service was great, everyone was very friendly and attentive. The food came quickly and everything was without fault. The chestnut ravioli was simply delicious... More

Small restaurant situated in the basement, easy to overlook. However make an effort to go there. Authentic german food. Lot of locals which is a good sign. Food indeed of very good quality. Atmosphere is very cosy. Staff very friendly. We reserved a table through Tripadvisor which worked out perfectly.

A group of 11 of us booked a table here whilst on a weekend away and we had a great evening. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were really good at helping us choose wine to go with our meal. The atmosphere is great, it's a series of wood-panelled rooms with beautiful features. The staff were so friendly... More

Description
Welcome to ‚Das Dorf’: Our restaurant has a decades-long tradition since it has been established in 1848. It has always been the meeting point for friends of enjoyment and entertainment. Quite a few call it to the secret canteen of crew members of Deutsches Schauspielhaus theatre. We love regional dishes and think that German kitchen has been completely unjustified disdained for long. Our Motto: The most delicious dishes from Germany and Austria. Here they do exist, the classics and the forgotten: Mummy’s Roulades, Shnitzel of Veal, homemade swabian noodles and so on...We hope you enjoy your time with us.
