We dined twice at this restaurant. The first time was on our arrival day to Cologne. Due to late arrival at the city we went to eat at 21.50 which is late for German restaurants. We asked if kitchen was still open and they told...More

The meals have always been lovely, their Snitzels are world class, especially the ones with sauces, I have a leaning for the mushroom sauce, which is chunky and obviously made fresh. Though a good veal snitzel with just lemon squeezed on it, is perfection. The...More

The staff is polite, was nobody when we came afternoon, but people came little bit later and filled the little place. It is very nicely decorated, maybe just a smidge too dark. Food was tasty, we had the beef soup for starter, the beefsteak was...More

Worth going here because the building is so impressive. If you go at lunch time make sure you ask for the lunch menu - they don't automatically give it you and each day they have a special offer with 2 courses for €7.95, which is...More

Went there by myself. They told me they didn't have a table for one. Even when I asked if I could wait they said no. They had several tables empty and nobody waiting but apparently they preferred to wait for larger parties. Rude receptionist.

We were looking for German food and the place we were looking for was busy then we opted for this and it was good enough. The butcher plate recommended for 4 actually is for 5 or 6. All the traditional food in one dish with...More

Another place, just off the beaten track that can occupy you for a good while. Locals are mainly here and the wine list is huge. To go along with you vino, there are many food choices. I has pizza bread which sound plain, but was...More

Really enjoyed our night in Gast and Weinhaus Brungs. We sat upstairs which had a nice cosy atmosphere and the food was really good! The ‘French style pizzas’ are great, and service was friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The Weinhaus Brungs has a palpable sense of history. The vaulted basement has remains of the Roman town wall. There are sculptured figures of the pope and emperor in alcoves watching over the locals and tourists as they dine. The home cooking goes down well with a glass Kölsch or any glass of good quality wine. The staff are attentive serving a middle-class clientele who enjoy the delicious food. The restaurant is accommodated in an historic merchant's house which provides a cosy setting with antiques, pointed arches and wood panelling.
