I loved the wonderful decoration on the wall of this restaurant. I passed it by without even recognizing it as my chosen destination, but once in, I was positively surprised by the sophisticated atmosphere. It is a bit pricy in comparison to the majority of places in Cologne, but definitely in line with the quality offered.

I had asparagus with hollandaise sauce (it's Spargel zeit!) and salmon. Fairly simple, but tasty. They recommended me GG Riesling and it was excellent. The Chardonnay suggested for the 2nd glass was clearly Bourgonge style with strong smoky nutty notes, but lighter than the usual Burgundy white. Overall, I really enjoyed the dinner.

Server speaks English well. Menu in both German and English. Price of each dish is a bit high for Germany (around 20 euro for starters and 25-29 euro for main dish) but you get high quality creative dish. Good lunch menu available for about 20 euro (2 course) and they offer a 3-course menu for about 49 euro (good deal... More

As a (foodie) local, it is not easy for me to list down my fave restaurants. But Wein am Rhein managed to be on my list. Its just the modern and cozy atmosphere, the outstanding service, the great German cuisine, wide range of Wine and fair price. This place is in Michelin Guide too. Been there several times for dinner.... More

Classis cuisine with full of flavour and finesse! We had the valentine 4 course started with spicy prawn , char , roast beef and dessert raspberry. The restaurant is chic, personnel attentive and friendly.

If you are tired of Kolsch and want some good choice of wine without the need to take the whole bottle - come here! I had soup of the day (puree of some herbs) and Turbot with a bottle of 2009 Riesling Old Vines.Very good fish and most of the dishes look-a-like Haut cuisine in this place, but not exactly... More

Visited on trip to cologne and had 4 course tasting menu with matching wine, all dishes were very good, char as starter was okay but not exceptional, risotto was excellent but the braised venison was best dish. Chocolate pudding was of a high standard. Wine matching was very good with the German Chardonnay excellent. Service was very good, Probably merits... More

We went to Wein am Rhein based on the fact that it's in the Michelin guide. Add to that the good TripAdvisor reviews, and we were sold. We took the 5-course menu, but it was disappointing overall. Some of the dishes were great (the salmon), but it was mind-boggling why some were even on the menu to begin with. The... More

I visited WeinamRhein on business whilst in Cologne last week. We started with a meat board, olives and a recommended German Riesling (Schlossböckelheimer 2012). The pairing was perfect to start with and the price for a glass was more than reasonable considering the quality. This also beautifully matched my fish starter. After moving-on to the lamb, I was recommended a... More

Visited this week and waited over one hour after ordering to the food arriving. Menu very limited in choice and portions small with food of average quality
