Never actually managed to eat there although the food looked decent. We took our seats and sat for a half hour without managing to attract a single waitperson. It was busy but others came in after us and were served ! We were never even handed a menu. They obviously made an effort not to look at us, This has... More

This was our third visit to this Mainz institution over the years and I'm happy to report that nothing has changed apart from moving the model of a North Sea Trawler from the front window to the top of the waiter's station next to the bar. The same warm ambience, wonderful food and service and plenty of satisfied customers. We... More

Wanted a light lunch so thought fish. So happy we did. Soups excellent/ we tried both - one light other classic bisque a little heavier. The salad with salmon small size was large enough and perfect light lunch.

Kind of canteen room where plenty of fishes are on menu but that said, nothing special / genuine will come in plates, "just" simple fishes soup, fried, pastas but again without any specificity

A dated restaurant with traditional German fish dishes. The word German in the last sentence is important because Germany (or at least this far south in Germany) is not reknowned for good fish dishes. I prefer to buy fresh fish from their shop next door and cook it myself.

Had a great night at this restaurant with a group of friends. Food great, beers large and cold, and the long-suffering staff were very tolerant of our merry-making!

Had a pleasant lunch here although a couple of misfires on our mangled Deutsche. Had a salty fish soup, calamari and fish fillet with fries. Very popular with the locals. You get wine next door where many stout German men were giving it a hammering in a friendly German kind of way.

Why 57 years? Because the place is good for me to meet 100 years old. Restaurant and the shop serve fresh fish and other staff from the sea. When restaurant is closed during the day (strange Germans) shop is not only selling fish, but also serve hot meals. "Jackob fish soup" is absolutely must try. Matjes herrings even better than...
