We ended up eating at Johnathan S. twice as we were very impressed with the quality of the food and service. The wait staff was very attentive and the ambiance quite intimate. We tried several dishes which frankly were all extremely good including a salad...(fresh & delicious), wienerschnitzel (tender with fantastic boiled potatoes), pork cheek with creamed cabbage (a highlight) and pike-perch with vegetable melody (light and refreshing). All the dishes are highly recommended. Johnathan S. Is not a typical tourist-trap (they did offer an menus in English). If you are looking for a good German food dining experience this is the spot.More

The restaurant is situated in the first floor and you have a good view to the historic Thomaskirche. We ordered Kalbsschnitzel with Pfifferlingen, it was excellent.

My experience here was just fine. Our waiter spoke passable English, the lack of an English menu was not a deterrent, and it was nice to sit outside as the sun sank lower. The food was good and plentiful--very good sweet potato fries. And, as hubby...says, there is no bad beer in Germany. I did see that some of the other wait staff did not appear to speak English, so we got lucky. Right next to the Bach museum and Thomaskirche, hence the name. A good place to regroup after being immersed in the 17th century.More

We had a bit of a language problem, but we could, more or less, understand the menu. Once we got passed ordering the food was nice (not amazing, but nice).

If you like to be served by a rude waitress, this is the place. Unpolite, bad humored and not able to answer the most basic questions in english. Food just OK, lots of better places to eat in Leipzig.

Twelve of us landed with no notice yesterday evening; great ambiance, good food and lovely surroundings beside the Thomaskirche.

After a guided visit to the Thomas Church we went to have dinner to this restaurant. The place is really nice, the atmosphere also. The service was quite friendly and accepted to change our reservation with no problem at all. The food was really good...and the size of the portions too. I would definitely go back :)More
