The full title is "Zunftkeller in Haus des Handwerks". My experience was similar to other reviewers. Lovely little establishment away from the tourists but only a short tram ride from the centre of Leipzig. Take tram 4 or 7 to Gerichtsweg. Parking would nbe next...to impossible. Sure, no English menu and little English spoken the evening of my visit but that's part of the atmosphere of patronising "local" restaurants rather than tourist haunts. Helpings were good and the beer was great (as it always is in Germany). Most patrons appeared to be in the mature age group (as I am) but it wasn't at all "stuffy". Got the impression they didn't see too many Australians! Highly recommended.More

Nice little typical German restaurant with all the things on the menu you would expect. German only menu, but most of the staff spoke some english an with my limited german it was no problem. Decent service, GREAT food, nice atmosphere. Def go again.

Just had dinner at this restaurant,as a previous person has said there's no English menu, but if you ask the waitress she would help as she did with me,but you can make out some of the words if you look. The food was very nice and not...that expensive I would recommend this for anyone to try it.More

Found on trip advisor as a nearby restaurant. Reviews were nearly all good as they should be. Warmly welcomed and shown to table even though we had not booked. (It got very busy and would recommend booking a table to not be disappointed). No English...menus but the waitress was more than happy to explain any gaps in our limited German. Food was very good quality and serving sizes were not too big. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and even though busy not too noisy. We lived the experience and highly recommend.More

The restaurant was, as in many cases here, originally a cellar, hence the name. They didn't have an English menu, which I think could be a bit of a downer to non-Germans who might want to, and really ought to, eat here. I managed because...I've spent some time in Germany, and ordered a schnitzel. This was a thick slice of pork, perfectly cooked and breaded: the french fries were also freshly made: and the salad was clearly fresh and well seasoned. And yet -- there was a je ne sais quoi, that was lacking..I looked at the online menu which mentioned that the dish came with a cheese sauce, which I didn't get with my meal. Perhaps a bit more of salad (and for my taste, fewer french fries), and a sauce on the side, would have helped the flavour along? I will be back, since I want to check out the other items to see if this was a one-off (slight) miss on an otherwise good and promising restaurant.More

This very good restaurant was recommended to me by the hotel where I stayed on the Sylvester weekend 2011-12 in Leipzig. The food was really prepared a la minute, the service flexible , friendly and attentive, and the price for "Zander" remarkably reasonable, ibid coffee,...and an adjustment in the full price of my dessert wish: the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream on the 'Strudel' which I did not wish to have was lowered most fairly. As I had enjoyed such a quiet and pleasant New Year's Eve dinner there, I returned in the early afternoon of January 1st 2012 after my visit to the nearby Grassi Museum to enjoy the best 'Sauerbraten' in years. Leipzig has a very 'gemütliches Restaurant', authentic, and unpretentious 'Hausmannskost' !More
