What makes a good coffee and cake experience is somewhat lacking here English translation of menu request met with unfriendly nein NO! Service slow and cake not particularly home made looking. Nice decoration and convieiently near Bach church and museum. The famous marzipan Leipziger Lerchen...cake can be eaten here.More

I must have put on Harry Potter’s invisibility cloak before I entered? I approached the counter and was ignored. I thought maybe it was table service so sat inside & waited....nothing. There were at least 3 waitresses all ignored me. We went outside & sat...at a table outside with dirty glasses & plates. After 5-10 minutes the table was cleared & our order taken. The cheesecake was fine & the Lerchen ok, like a Bakewell tart without jam, icing or a cherry. The earl grey tea cost €5.30! For a tea bag!! The coffee was one of the worst I’ve ever tasted, weak & watery. Just AVOID.More

The lerchen is Leipzig's signature cake and the Kandler is probably the best place to try them. Very tasty and moreish.

We had a coffe break on a sunny day. The service was a bit slow, but nice. Coffe (regular as well as a cappuccino), though, was weak and absolutely taste free...

When in Leipzig, go to Cafe Restaurant Kandler (in front of the Thomaskirche) and order Leipziger Lerchen and/or Leipziger Räbchen to go with your espresso or capuccino! You won't be disappointed! The ambience was nice and the service was very friendly and efficient.

Stopped here after visiting St Thomas. The girls behind the counter acted annoyed I went up there to order, told me to sit down and they would be with me. Ok, I guess I didn't know! Then I kindly went in and asked them to...show me where we were on a local map. They looked at each other and neither would answer, very clearly irritated with me! I had to BEG them to show me where we were on the map. It was ridiculous. Worst service I've ever had, any where in the world. Wouldn't have killed them to fake being nice!More

Called in for a tea and cake. I thought around 15 euros for an average earl grey and very average cake for two of us was a little over the top. The location is good but we will not be returning. Owners response will be...interesting.More

We were late with breakfast this Tuesday, but after visiting the Thomaskirche we needed this 'pampering' badly. Beautiful shop, classical german delicacies, chique pies not to neglect.
