Disappointing. I made a dinner reservation. On arrival, we ordered drinks. My friend had a large beer. I asked for a large coffee and a tap water. The waiter brought out a thimble -sized cup of water. I asked for a large one. He said...it was forbidden for me to have a large tap water "because this is Germany". That seems (1) xenophobic and (2) false... I've lived in Leipzig for 4 years and this is the only place that forbade me from having a glass of tap water to accompany a paid drink. I could almost understand it if we were only asking for free stuff, but I was paying for a coffee. Unnecessarily hostile. We paid and left without eating and went to a different restaurant for our dinner. Seem a dumb policy to try to drive away paying customers when your restaurant is half-empty on a Friday night. Instead we had a really delicious meal and wines at the Bayerisher Bahnhoff... Friendly service and much nicer ambience. I strongly recommend you avoid the Gosenschenke Ohne Bedenken. Hostile, unfriendly, petty. Also quite embarrassing as it was me that 'recommended' to my friend that we went to this place.More

You're probably here for the Gose beer, and it's pretty good here. I think the Bayerischer Bahnhof beer is a better version (more distinctive taste), but they sell that one here too. Food was very unimaginative -- lots of saturated fat -- but pretty much...what you'd expect. The staff were very friendly, but not very organised -- I waited a long time for the bill after asking for it, and had to start leaving in order to be allowed to pay, and the restaurant was far from full.More

Really enjoyed our visit to this pub. Can only imagine what it is like in the summer with it’s huge beer garden. The man that served us was so proud of the beer he served us. It was lovely. Big menu to choose from although...on this occasion did not eat. Plenty of choice, plenty of history and character. Very friendly. Highly recommended.More

Staying at an apartment nearby and this place was the first recommendation from a local on the street. We had a pleasant walk there later that night. We weren’t disappointed. Authentic, historical, with it’s special tangy beer and good food. We sat inside with only...locals. Very satisfying.More

Really enjoyed our visit today to this pub brewery. Firstly it was good to get a bit if a walk outside the city centre, although you could also take the team. Then we were lucky to get a seat having not booked but because we...were early (about 5pm) the staff fitted us in to a table that had a later reservation. While I endeavour to speak German it was useful to also have a menu in English although not everything was completely translated. For example Wildgulasch was not translated... venison goulash (or casserole) if you decide to go for that. We love sour beer, so the beer flight tasting was ideal and then we chose our favourites. If sour beer not your thing then it's also traditional to add various fruit flavours which soften and sweeten it on the palate. Bottles of other beers, wine and cider also available. Onion cake... an onion and bacon pie... delicious! Thank you all at "Ohne Bedenkung"!More

It was perfect experiment of local cuisine. Plenty of satisfying delicious food. The best beer that is brewed in the house. Very good personal and cozy atmosphere, you can feel like in early 20 century

Gosenschenke is called one of the top 150 places to drink beer. Try their local brew "flight"--three samples of sour wheat beer. Saxon favorites are on the menu: sauerbraten, schnitzel, rouladen. But you can get favorites from other regions as well, pasta, fried camambert, etc....Outdoor seating is a real biergarten experience with live music on the weekends.More

The menu card were only in German, and relatively short (good thing), so we randomly picked two courses. The food tasted great, and service were very helpful.. Very positive!

Came here as part of a private party for a wedding celebration in December. The buffet food we had was delicious, but the highlight was the lovely Gose beer they served. You could have different flavours, I recommend the mango flavoured Gose, it was delicious!...The outside beer garden looked like it would be amazing in the summer too, shame it was too cold when we were there!More

This gigantic beer garden serves gose - the local top-fermented beer which is a slightly sour light beer usually/sometimes mixed with schnapps or juice. The gose was great - straight from the tap, no additional flavours for me, great stuff. The food, however, had its...ups and downs. I was planning on trying their matjes-herring dishes, but because matjes was nowhere to be found, I went for the traditional pork-sauerkraut-potatoes main. It arrived very quickly - too quickly. Probably microwave heated - it did taste very authentic, however (this is, after all, a national dish in Estonia as well and I know my pork and sauerkraut). The menu looked great, but it basically boils down to how the dishes are prepared. The other tables seemed to have longer waiting times, so maybe their dishes need more cooking and less heating up. The dessert, quark pancakes, took a long time to arrive, but it absolutely worth the wait. Freshly made, these had great taste and were also very nicely served. Recommended.More
