You sometimes struggle to find places like this on the Costa these days. Old fashioned bars serving good traditional food in a lively atmosphere - and at reasonable prices - are few on the ground. But El Tejar does not disappoint. Great, buzzy little bar with a restaurant at the back - we stopped for a light lunch of black... More

We found this at our second attempt and it was well worth making the effort. It was full of locals and had a good buzzy atmosphere. The seafood creps were delicious as was the "musaka" on fried bread- large pinchos at 2 euros each- very good value. I've been told to order paella as it might be available even if it's... More

Our friend, Dave, had been singing the praises of this restaurant for quite some time. And how right he was. We had beef cheeks, gambas pil pil, revueltos with prawns, stuffed peppers and aubergine - absolutely delicious. The weakest dish was the revueltos because the beans were a bit 'soggy'. The house wine was very decent and we had two... More

If you can search this place out it is well worth it. Go in for a glass of wine and a couple of pinchos and end up staying for hours. That's what happens to us! Very different style off food on offer. This is Basque style tapas or pinchos. Some are better than others but the fun is in trying... More

The El Tejar is not the easiest restaurant to find being away from the main tourist parts of the city. You need your tourist city street map. But it is well worth the effort. We went for lunch; when we arrived at 1.00pm, very few customers, by the time we were leaving around 2pm the bar, restaurant and outside tables... More

Great food, lunch starts around 1.30pm, mainly Spanish having tapas/lunch. Excellent food, reasonably priced. Don’t go if you’re in a hurry, the Spanish like to take their time, chat eat chat some more, coffee & brandy more chats then the bill. Tastefully decorated and as always in Spain the sea food and fish is fresh and tasty. Just outside of... More

Believe all the positive reviews this restaurant has received, they are all true and more. Got another week in Estepona and will be coming here a couple more times at least. The food is fantastic with service to match. The waiter talked my vegetarian daughter through all the dishes that she could eat and she was very happy. The was... More

We have been going there for years since it opened and for different tapas it cant be beaten .in the restaurant .you can choose between typical northern Spanish food and interesting first courses .the fresh cockles (berberechos ).are like...
