Cafe Iruna is a wonderful place to stop for a snack and a beer or wine. There are lots of tables so there is plenty of room-- advice: come early for the best choices!!

Called in around 7pm after a visit to the Guggenheim, on the strength of good reviews on here. A surly waiter told me the kitchen wouldn't be open until 8:00 despite the fact that the place was full of people eating. I might have taken it personally except he did the same to a couple who wandered in after me.... More

Cafe Iruna is an institution in Bilbao, serving food and drink in its bar and dining room since 1903. The bar side is decorated with early 20th century period tiles advertising sherry and other spirits. Enjoy a coffee, snack, or drinks on this side. On the other is the neo-Moorish decorated dining room that invites you to sit for hours... More

We went to Cafe Iruna for Breakfast. A massive choice of sweet and savoury food: Croissants, cake, Pinchos, variations of egg etc. etc. Very beautiful cafe that invites to stay longer and longer.

The decor of this place is traditionally Spanish - remember Casa Pupo? We opted for the tasting menu which was on the whole really good, I wasn't overwhelmed with the cod drowned in a tomato and pepper sauce but that's personal. The overall price was very reasonable and included a bottle of wine. Can't complain

Food was fine and very casual. It was a good value for the money but too bad that the waiter couldn't be bothered. Place was empty and not attentive at all. Share as portions are quite large. The tuna salad was memorable.

Cafe Iruna is a great bar and a perfect stop on a pintxos tour around Bilbao. Cheap but good wine and beer, coupled with delicious pintxos (including amazing lamb skewers), and a gorgeous souk-style fit out. It all combines to make Cafe Iruna a winner!

An authentic period piece from the turn of the century. Decor original, no mash ups or designer magazine touches. Pinxos average but cheap; wine very good value for a central spot. Also a restaurant with an interesting ceiling for a comprehensive menu del dia (although didn't try it). Round the corner from El Corte Ingles if you need an emergency... More

This place has it all really - great menu del dia, great pintxos, great service and wonderful old time decor. The waiters were wonderfully helpful and polite and the pintxos moruno skewers at the end of the night are SO good. In fact they are so good, they seem famous as people were queueing out of the door for them!

Thank Paul M
