Food was really really good and quite surprising ! Next time we'll be in Bilbao, we'll come back again and again :) It wasn't too expensive *taken into account it's one start Michellin) compared to other restaurant we tried during our stay in Bilbao !

Having read the reviews and spending only one night in Bilbao we wanted to go to the best restaurant with great food. Our experience was very disappointing. The food was not good at all. My daughter could not eat the jamon and left it completely (a starter). The seabass main course was fine but the monkfish was fatty and almost... More

This restaurant does not deserve a michelin star, We like to eat in 1 stared Michelin restaurants as a way of comparing what a 1 start means! This the second worst stared restaurant we have eaten in.... I dont know who was in the kitchen but they have NO idea of the meaning of seasoning the meal was boring and... More

Service is attentive, the rooms are pleasantly spacious...but the cuisine leaves quite a lot to be desired. Ok, it's a 3.5/5, but definitely no star. I can only assume the inspector has not been around for a while. You will do better in many "simpler" places around the area.

Just got back from Zortsiko to celebrate the last night of our holiday and we were unimpressed. This was the eleventh Michelin star of the year for us and we left feeling that the star was totally undeserved. The chef Daniel Garcia was not present this night and you could certainly tell! We went for the degustacion menu - most... More

It was for a special occasion so booking a Michelin star restaurant should be a guarantee of quality... Well, not at all! It was the worst dinner of the holidays. The foie gras seemed frozen. My fish was poorly cleaned as I found myself chewing the intestine/digestive system of the fish! The service was nice but a bit lost and... More

Read CNtraveller review and decided to visit this "Michelin" star restaurant. We ate Traditional set menu and only gazpacho melon soup stood out. Looks like the restaurant is outdated both in dishes creativity and interior style, having spider webs hanging on cheap chandeliers.

Description
Zortziko restaurant, just a few steps from Bilbao's iconic Guggenheim Museum, is iconic in its own way. This ultra-modern kitchen is sited in an elegant, 19th century mansion and is the place for business lunches and relaxed dinners. The formality of the setting the three dining rooms are decorated in royal French, Victorian English and a more modern style is deflated by the helpfulness and cordiality of the DJed waitstaff. Chef/owner Daniel Garcia has earned his Michelin star through refinement of flavours in a truly Basque style at once inventive and conservative. Dishes change with the season, of course, and may include dishes like starter of txangurro salad, containing crabmeat on thin spaghetti with coral dressing, main course of blue duck slow-cooked served with a sweet rioja sauce, and a tasting plate of desserts to satisfy even the most adventurous gourmet. A single table in the wine cellar, the home of more than 600 labels, is reserved weeks in advance. Celebrity-magnet Zortziko (Frank Gehry, Pierce Brosnan) is one of Bilbao's culinary star attractions.
