I was in the same party of five as the previous poster and all I can say is that this was, indeed, 'different'. As a family we usually have a rule-of-thumb when looking for somewhere to eat that if one restaurant is busy with people...queuing to get in, while another up the road is empty, then there's probably a good reason - and we would avoid the empty one. So on that Saturday there was an hour's wait for one down the road but Roger's Cafe was empty - but we went in anyway. The host is certainly an engaging and entertaining character. The five of us had a mixture of starters, but only three plates were provided as Roger said he didn't have any more (!). With a very limited menu, four of us had the burger as the main corse. It was lukewarm at best and the waffle was a challenge. This was Roger's last night before closing for a few weeks and heading back to France, so it may be that he was clearing out what was left, but I don't think it the best experience. Overall it wasn't for me on this occasion, but I can understand why others rave about it on other nights. For a similar experience I could simply eat a lukewarm burger in a launderette.More

This isn't your standard cafe. Roger is a very engaging, accommodating and friendly host. The menu is quite limited but all freshly cooked and very nice. We particularly enjoyed the salad starters. The burgers come with waffles - I really liked this, although a couple...of the girls were less keen. All very fun and informal.More

We picked this quaint cafe based on the google and Trip Advisor reviews. The pictures closed the deal. Roger exceeded all of our expectations. His love for food and serving his customers is evident. You can really see the passion he has for preparing his...wonderful creations. I had the burger. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had and one of the best meals I have had in any restaurant in a long time. My girlfriend had the Verdure crepe. It was also amazing. We finished the meal off with a sugar crepe flambéed with Gran Marinier and an espresso! It was a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Roger is a very interesting man to talk to. I was shocked how affordable such a wonderful meal was. I will be back during the time I have left here on La Gomera!More

We had seen Roger’s Cafe reviewed highly on Trip Advisor and then we stumbled across it in the back streets of San Sebastian. It is obviously a labour of love and after trying to talk in Spanglish we settled on his native French. He was...a joy to meet passionate about his food and ingredients, he gave us a tour of his menu. We settled on the excellent gallettes completes with ham, egg and cheese. Gluten free too! They were very tasty and we were only sorry we didnt have space for the flambed crepes that were on the menu. Maybe next time! Check out the amazing mural. I loved it here! Merci Roger!More

Made a return visit here and enjoyed a lovely lunch, thanks to Roger and ‘Chocolate’. Wonderful salads and crêpes suzettes to follow, washed down with some very palatable french red wine. Small but definitely chic, this is the place to come to now in San...Sebastián.More

Nestled almost the stone buildings of San Sebastian and beside the Church of Assumption, you will find Roger's cafe. A true gem. A warm-hearted and friendly Roger greats you at the door with his loyal companion, Chocolat by his side. His gorgeous, chocolate caramel coloured...dog. The food is divine; I promise you there will not be a thing you pick from the menu, which isn't packed full of flavour and cooked to perfection. All ingredients are natural and locally sourced. I can highly recommend the crepes with banana; chocolate flambeed with Grand Marnier, divine. Roger's Burger is also pretty damn unique and so tasty. All drinks are made with a uniquely French twist. My husband had an Irish coffee and sat in pure delight as he finished every last drop, stopping just short of licking out the glass. Make sure to save this beautiful restaurant on your places to eat at; you won't regret it.More
