We stumbled upon this restaurant when we were lost and very hungry one evening. It felt like discovering an oasis in the desert as everywhere else that looked good was rammed. I can't imagine why this restaurant wasn't equally so, as from outside it looked really welcoming. True enough we were given a friendly greeting which turned out to be... More

I love this little restaurant at El Born. My second time there with my husband, it is a great place, small and intimate with just the right amount of light. The food is creative and always pleases the palate. The wine list presents a good selection, the service impeccable and the venue romantic.

Amazing, great and with a menù with many traditional Catalan dishes... good wine, only one point of weakness, not cheap.

We found this restaurant by chance on a previous trip. Unfortunately it was closed but from the outside looking in we decided we would return on our next trip. The area where it is situated, in Born/La Ribera is a maze of narrow streets and alleyways. It took some finding on our return but our patience was rewarded. The subdued... More

We happened on this restaurant by chance and really enjoyed the experience. Very stylish and menu was inventive. On recommendation of waitress, I had monkfish with strawberries and white chocolate sauce which was surprisingly lovely. Husband had enjoyable Catalonian dish. Good last night in Barcelona!

This september we visited this small, nice restaurant located in the heart of the Born district of Barcelona's old town twice. Food is good (nice catalan cuisine) and elegantly presented. Limited wine list, but good quality.Service is very attentive. It is convenient to make your reservation in advance. They have a daily "prix fix" menu for EUR 22,includind two courses plus dessert,bread... More

There are lots of candles and hanging lights here, but the place contrives to remain romantically dark. The menu is not too long and has no pictures, which is good by me, because almost all cooked food looks really tacky in those photos which so many metropolitan eateries seem to favour - you simply cannot tell if a place is... Oh dear..this restaurant looked so classy from the outside- all cozy candles, matt black tablecloths and some original choices on the menu. However in a city groaning with top class eateries it is difficult to be original and profitable. This restaurant is clearly trying to sell itself as high end but doesn't quite have the clientèle yet to justify the... More

We were enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant but the food was very disapointing, in both the amount" very small" and the cooking, the "fricandó" was the worst I ever tested. The desserts were somehow better. The price was expensive 50€ per person for such poor quality

Very charming small restaurant in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Barcelona "el Born". The restaurant is Family run and has a quiet romantic atmosphere. Very nice to visit both with friends, family or lover. The dishes are original and creative with some recognisable flavours, cuisine has a french touch. A special touch was for instance several sauces with chocolate... More

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
