Nestled in the labyrinthine streets of Barcelona's gothic district is Granja La Pallaresa a discrete, unfussy cafe that is famous for its sublime hot chocolate. Indeed, as we arrived, the queue confirmed this was a 'must do' venue on the gothic town tourism trail. Therefore, like many other compliant visitors, we joined the line and waited our turn. We didn't... More

I felt as unwanted guest when I came 20 min before siesta. For me it was absolutely enough to get hot chocolate with churros, but the staff seemed annoyed. Churros were ok but I actually didn't like chocolate, however its worth seeing because it's popular place among inhabitants.

This is a popular spot so can be hard to get a table but it's worth the wait! There are various types of hot chocolate and we chose the espanola on our waiter's recommendation and it was excellent, very thick and delicious, perfect for dipping the crisp churros. The service was good too and our waiter recognized us when we... More

We were there at 4pm when the shop reopens in the afternoon, which quickly filled with people. Worth a visit

Very good quality churros. A very busy place. Its perfect to just sit down for 10 minutes to eat your churros. Ideal to try the local stuff!!

We wandered through the boutiques in the old city and eventually to Chocolateria Pallaressa where we partook of obscenely decadent cups of hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and served with chorros to be dipped in the hot chocolate. I left in a daze from chocolate shock!!

The chocolate is very good. The churros are nothing special and the portion is small (5 small churros). The prices are 50% higher than in other similar bars, with the same quality, like the one on Via Laietana. We payed 15eur for 2 chocolates, 10 churros and 2 orange juices.

The place was packed just after it opened at 17:00. Fortunately the wait was not long. The service was fast. The churro was airy and crispy, with a more noted salty taste. The only downside was it was a bit greasy. I still liked it a lot. Maybe it would be better I had a strong coffee instead of the... More

The environment was very busy and it was crowded which means it's a popular destination. We ordered churros with Spanish chocolate which was great. The churros were fresh and the chocolate not too sweet with a prominent cocoa flavour. We enjoyed every bit of it. We would have liked to see an option of dolce deleche but it was still... More
