Recommended By a friendly tour guide, we sought out this place early afternoon, which turned out to be a good time. Being quite small I can believe that it us busy later in the evening. Extremely friendly & helpful staff explained different tapas and meal options. I chose Haddock which was served with oil, potatoes amongst other ingredients and I've... More

We found this place while wondering the streets if El Born. It was packed solid and we couldn't get in so we turned up the next night around 2 hours earlier (7pm). The waiter was superb at advising us on how to order pinxos and the food was Sooooo good. You only pay for the number of cocktail sticks and... More

We walked past this small tapas bar and did a double-take – we turned around and went inside to check out their raw Oysters and the variety of Pintxo (or Pinchos) Tapas – which basically is stacked high tapas spiked with a cocktail stick to keep it together. And these tapas were large, beautifully made and really tasty (2.10 Euros... More

Situated just behind Saint Marie this is a great tapas bar. Lovely, friendly place, either scramble your way to a bar seat or wait for a table. Help yourself to tapas from the wide variety on show and keep the cocktail sticks as your bill. Inexpensive and good quality. Perfect place to grab a bite after some tourism.

This small bar and restaurant has an unusual way of serving food. You simply pick the small tapas style bites from the bar and put them on your plate. You can choose as much as you want and have only that or combine in with some tapas from the menu or perhaps choose a bigger main course again from the... More

mmh, delicious tapas that you can just take all by yourself and afterwards you pay per plate/ stick that was stuck into the tapa. We always have some Vermuth to drink, as this is typical in Catalunya.

We stumbled across this bar on our first evening and enjoyed delicious pintos, oysters and amazing wine ! A very cosy and relaxed environment , the barman was very friendly , we returned the following evening. We visited with our teenage daughter who was made welcome and will definitely visit again.

We stopped in here looking for "toothpick tapas", and we were not disappointed. The price for the tapas was 2.05 euro per piece, but they were huge and delicious. The waiter was happy to speak with us in Spanish and English about the food, including ensuring that there were no issues with our son's nut allergy. He also made sure... More

Recommended on a blog I had recently been reading before visiting Barcelona me and my boyfriend thought we'd give Golfo a try for dinner. Easy to find, hidden in the gothic quarter in tiny little streets full of great bars and restaurants. It is probably more of a lunch place but none the less was great food, we went on... More

Description
Maritime inspired in concept and design, Golfo de Bizkaia is an intimate space, very informal, which is divided into two parts. A space dedicated to the bar of tapas and another place to taste typical dishes of Euskadi, but in casserole format. Near the church of Santa Maria del Mar and a few meters from the Paseo del Borne.

Staying in El Born / La Ribera

Neighbourhood Profile
El Born / La Ribera
The labyrinth that is El Born becomes most apparent the moment you turn down one of its side streets. But this is one of the few labyrinths you might actually enjoy losing your way in. After all, there are few places that live and breathe such exciting energy regardless of the time of day. This neighbourhood seamlessly transcends the old and new parts of the city, reflected in its vast array of restaurants ranging from fancy Michelin-star establishments to trendy fusion restaurants. Here you'll find historical and cultural attractions such as the popular Picasso Museum and the Gothic cathedral La Santa Maria del Mar, where you just might be able to catch a traditional Catalan wedding.
