We originally visit this restaurant in October 2015 and it would appear to be under new ownership. The service was very friendly and efficient. Don't expect cordon bleu food, but you do get good basic food at a very reasonable price for a restaurant situated so close to the main thoroughfare of La Rambla. The staff were English speaking and... More

Called in for a late lunch on the way back from Montjuc. Decent burgers, reasonably priced, friendly service.

Came for a bocadillo came back for wine, sangria, signature burger and seafood paella on our final meal. Had much worse elsewhere at significantly higher prices. Highly recommended.

We were at this restaurant in 2014 and everything was well. But this year the quality of food has declined dramatically. We ordered paella, brought not the finished dish with raw rice, the water in the bottom of pan. I advise this restaurant for nobody.

Went out looking for dinner, and came across El Nou by chance. The atmosphere was fairly strange, in that there was a pokies machine at the entrance and a consistent beeping throughout the night, music (90s pop/soul naturally) was louder than conversation, and a TV in the dining area was turned on during the night to a mute music video... 1/Almost half their meny were pizzas, but when we tried to order one - they said they had none! 2/Ordered meat, and asked if it came with rice, chips, potatoes - and the waitor told me "no - only the meat", so I also ordered potatoes separatelly. I was served the potaoe 30 minutes before the meat, and together with... More

Yes that is a lofty claim - but I strongly believe it based on our experience(s) there. Compared to some of the pictures I've seen posted, El Nou looks recently renovated and may even sport new owners. We instantly felt welcome by the staff, and were recommended some great snacks; then given some comp cava, and left wanting to come... More

We had a late lunch in this restaurant. We didn't expect much, but were pleasently surprised. The food was good: salad, paella, grilled chicken, pasta. Normal prices. Desserts from the fridge overpriced. We enjoyed in Illy caffe and free wifi.

Only at lunch you have a full menu with starter, first course, main course, dessert and a drink (wine or beer included). Meals are to be choosen from the list in the menu. Staff is quick. What's wrong? The place looks more like a bar than a restaurant. The quality of the meals is more like "food you can do... More

Staying in El Raval

Neighbourhood Profile
El Raval
Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
