After visiting the area of Barceloneta twice before it was a treat to finally indulge in the finest tapas. The waiters were all extremely friendly and provided great recommendations, as well as creating an authentic atmosphere. Service was a good pace as waiters gave you time in between various dishes. We arrived at around 7:45pm and there was only one... More

I visited this place because I read an article online about where to get the best "bombas" of Barcelona which is a local specialty. A "bomba" is a potato croquette filled with minced meat. This croquette is served with salsa brava and alioli. I had one of those at the Bombeta. It was delicious. Nevertheless, I also ordered a tortitlla... More

The magic of this place is that though I don't know a word in Spanish I didn't feel myself alien here. We quickly bonded with the waiter and he was super friendly, communicating with me between the languges :) The atmosphere is homely and the food was simple but delicious. Crema Catalana - absolutely stunning and I think it must... More

We ended up here because our 2 first choices were closed Mondays but it worked out well. We were waiting for a table for 2 but only 4tops were free so we shared a table with some ladies. The tapas were very good especially the bombas, which I would liken to very garlicky mashed potatoes rolled into a ball and... More

This is a gem of a spot in Barceloneta. It's a line up to get in and it's cash only, but worth in on all counts. The food is fresh and the service professional. Look around - the servers are older professionals. The grandma still works here. This is a great spot! Sure, then might have a microwave on the... More

I think the formula they have is perfect-they only work on few dishes, but everything is fresh and of good quality, especially the fish that comes from the nearest market and you can taste it! A friend who lives in Barcelona took me there. We had their specialty: bombeta (a fried potato mash ball filled with minced meat), albondigas and... More

La Bombeta is an absolute "must stop" visit while in Barcelona. Located by the harbor and within walking distance of the Gothic Quarter, you can't go wrong stopping here. A favorite by the locals as well as tuorii like us, make sure to show up early. Phenomenal tapas and tasty sangria---enjoy!

Love and missed the grilled sardines, octopus (poupous). The potato balls was good but no deep impression.

It was standing room only, but we found a space at the counter window standing outside. We went for the bombas after having them the day before, but enjoyed a few more dishes on our second visit. The padron peppers with sausage were perfectly cooked and seasoned simply but were so flavourful. We also had grilled artichokes, and shell on... More

Staying in Barceloneta

Neighbourhood Profile
Barceloneta
Originally a fisherman’s quarter, this quaint area can’t escape its small village feel: laundry hanging over the narrow streets, old ladies clamoring at each other from their balconies and elder gentlemen playing games on short wooden benches gossiping the day away, Barceloneta could double as a film set. Artists line the boardwalk displaying their magnificently detailed sand structures making this the most visited beach in the city (the shirtless men working out might help too). You’ll know by the delicious aroma that you're in the right place to try some of the best and most authentic seafood including paella, Spain’s national dish.
