When the Cheff is the owner of the restaurant you know it's all about the food. The freshness, the spices, the textures, everything was out of this world! We had the tartare, the mussels and the octopus and they where all superb. Tuna tartare was, without doubt, the best if had in my life!!

We were staying in a hotel near this restaurant to it flagged up when we searched tripadvisor for the nearest ones. It's in a small side street so glad we looked it up as we wouldn't have just stumbled upon it! We arrived just after 8.30, we hadn't reserved but they had a table for 2. If you intend to... More

We visited on a week night and arrived by 20.30. We hadn't booked but were able to get a table. The other tables had filled by 21.00. There were two really friendly and helpful waiters who gave us translations and advised on portion size. We had the salmorejo, the goats cheese baked with honey and basil, and the rabbit leg... Popped in here around 2100 on a weeknight, was only one other couple in the restaurant when we arrived, but within 30 minutes the place was full, there only around 10-12 tables so it gets busy quickly. There seemed to only be one waiter, who was on top form, he seemed to be everywhere, all the time and the service... More

My girlfriend and I had the best dinner of our whole trip in this nice little restaurant. The waiters were really appealing and friendly and the food was simply amazing. The actual reason why we came there was that it was the only tapas bar we found that carried Dates with Bacon which is my favorite tapa. Unfortunately when we... More

Stopped in at 8:30 the other night. They opened the door for us as it was still locked but we are from the states and were starving. Our server was great and spoke english really well which for Madrid is welcome. (not that I speak Spanish very well) FYI, wine in spain is cheap and I mean cheap from what... More

The place is very simple in terms of design and appearance (too simple I would say). The smells from the kitchen can be clearly heard in the sitting area which is somewhat annoying. Not many tables and not much space in between - in the evening becomes super loud. The food is average - eatable but not something you would... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
