I'm not a fan of Spanish coffee, but I was quiet impressed by this expresso. Nice and rich cream on top.

The food is delicious, well portioned and filling. The place is quite relaxing, there's a variety of food to choose from for all sorts of tastes. The service is top notch, the waiter was nice enough to offer me a glass of water when I didn't order drink, which is always nice.

Such fabulous sandwiches! The quinoa salad was great as well. We picked up a picnic basket to take to Retiro Park. They charge €50 as a deposit for the picnic basket. They packed the whole thing very well and included everything we'd need (cutlery, a mat, paper napkins- even an extra paper bag for leftover food we may want to... More

We came here for brunch. This was my second visit to Magasand following my first trip to Madrid a couple of years ago. We ordered salads and sandwiches, all of which were delicious. I ordered the mozzarella crunchie salad which was divine. A combination of earthy mushrooms, truffle oil and creamy mozzarella, wonderfully complimented by sweet cherry tomatoes. Quite simply... This was place was recommended before we went so wanted to take it before we went into the Park. We sat outside, though seating is available inside, and I had the hot dog which was delicious. Lots of interesting food on the menu and it seemed a good place to go if you wanted to spend the afternoon there chatting... More

Staying in Chueca

Neighbourhood Profile
Chueca is the hip, gay neighbourhood of Madrid where many of the streets are narrow and intimate, but where the hustle and bustle and the eclectic storefronts and people give it a distinctly urban feel. The main thoroughfare is Calle Hortaleza and the main square is Plaza Chueca, completely filled with terraza tables serving copas (mixed drinks) during summer. A mixture of trendy and grungy, some of the adult businesses here are explicitly racy in their signage. From the rainbow flags to the signs above the entrances of its many funky bars, to the date spot restaurants, Chueca is a vibrant and colorful place. It's always interesting to explore the different corners of Chueca by day, and by night, the area becomes a major nightlife destination when the clubs open their doors.
