The restaurant was across from our hotel and we thought we would try it our last night in Madrid. We were trying to decide what to eat and asked a couple of questions. The waiter was looking away annoyed and then proceeded to tell us what to order. We asked for another minute and he just stood there making suggestions.... More

We were staying in the Hotel Preciados across the road and decided to eat here on our first night in Madrid. What a stunning old style Spanish restaurant with food that just evokes Spanish cooking perfectly. The pork and lamb were just so succulent everyone of us (6 people) were gushing about the food at the end of the night.... More

Here you can enjoy delicious Segovian roasted suckling pig or lamb in a clay oven. The atmosphere is authentic and the service is good.

We happened to stumble over this place and it was very very good. This happened to be the best place where we ate suckling pig and the lamb. The waiters were very nice. It was full of locals. It's not an expensive place and servings wee plenty

Had a meal here and it is a very authentic old fashioned style restaurant. The suckling pig was delicious. The service was very good and the portions are very large. Would definitely eat here again.

We went there for late lunch-early dinner and as recommended ordered a roasted suckling lamb. I am not a big meat eater but that fish blew my mind off. The meat was so tender and tasty, it was melting in the mouth. I must say for a portion we had it was really worth the price. The place is really... More

We visited several times during our stay in Madrid. Outstanding service and excellent food. Definitely a break from the many tourist restaurants in the centro. The racion of jamon iberico for €21 is a great value for the price. The menu del dia is likewise a great deal. Worthwhile in every respect. Get there early on the weekends as it... More

Staying in Centro

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
