Visited with a friend for a bite to eat as I was staying in the hotel nextdoor. Impressed with the tortilla and the selection of cheeses we had. The cider was great and being from Somerset I appreciated it! Will visit again in the near future to try more of the menu.

Amazing food for a ridiculously low price. Like a home cooked meal, and hearthy. I asked for a glass of wine, got a whole bottle and it only cost me €9,50! Grab the menu del dia, you wont regret it!

We visited this restaurant right on the day we arrived in Madrid, tired from the trip and ate a delicious stew and Spanish tortilla. Good service and fine cuisine.

Local friends took us to this place and we had a lot of fun, good food, lots of wine. For the occasion it was the right place, we enjoyed a lot of different food, had some cider, lots of red wine and generally just a great night out. However, my feeling is that in any other category this restaurant is... More

Excellent traditional food and authentic atmosphere. We were 3 people eating and we ordered 5-6 different dishes. All good and generous portions. We tried the traditional cider, which was served the traditional way by pouring it from high above and we didn´t like it that much, but this is just a matter of personal taste. I recommend this place.

I loved finding places in Madrid where you could order a cold cerveza and a *free* tapas plate would be delivered to you shortly thereafter. Each time I ordered a drink, another tapas plate was dropped off at my table, each time a different dish. All were delicious.

We asked a local barber for directions and he ended up recommanding us this restaurant. We were not disappointed. It specializes in Asturian cuisine (north of Spain). We each took the menu of the day (9,50 euros). For the entrée we took the pote asturiano (one of the best thing I had to eat in all of Spain), and it... More

Typical Spanish restaurant with good service, nothing special but if you find yourself in the neighbourhood have a go. Asturian cuisine offers different flavours than other Spanish restaurants, try the favada (beans) and the Cider. We did not like the sweets and, prepare for it, they did not serve coffee. For those travelling with children note that there is no... More

Staying in La Latina

Neighbourhood Profile
La Latina
La Latina is a charming neighbourhood with two unique personalities. At first glance, it’s distinctly old-world, with narrow streets weaving a maze among charming stone buildings in sunny, bright colors like yellow and pink. The other side of La Latina is characterized by a young population and a bohemian vibe, as evidenced by a dynamic and evolving selection of new bars, shops, coworking spaces, and other businesses popping up in the area. In the northern part of the neighbourhood, the Cava Alta and Cava Baja streets constitute the tapas center of Madrid, where each age-old restaurant serves up distinctive specialties like huevos rotos and patatas bravas. Locals have come here for generations to while away hours over drinks and tapas with friends. On Sundays and public holidays, the streets to the south of La Latina metro station transform into a giant open-air market full of locals sifting through tent after tent of art, apparel, and antiques. Any day of the week, the intriguing blend of the traditional and the hip make the streets of La Latina worth exploring.
