After going to the Prado Museum which was across the street, we came back to the hotel and decided to have Afternoon tea. It was the perfect place as it was quiet and intimate. The piano was playing. The menu had many selections on which tea was preferred. The food was very good, as well as the service. Everything was... More

We came here to spoil ourselves for an afternoon tea ( at 32 euros per person - definitely a spoil) and were very disappointed. Very slow service, the tea was so weak it was a non event. We had to ask 3 times over half an hour for milk ( the tea was cold by the time it arrived). For... More

It was Saturday afternoon and as we were staying in the hotel and had been out all morning we thought we would go and have a look. We did look and decided that between breakfast and dinner we would have tea here. We enjoyed the service and the ambience, the room itself is beautiful. The flower displays are amazing, they... some of us had Tea and some had a glass of wine. Nice to relax after a long day sightseeing. We stayed at this hotel, so it was convenient to just put our stuff down before heading upstairs. Pricey for tea and wine, but a nice experience.

Very difficult to get served in this large bar. We sat for 10 minutes or so and were totally ignored until I got the Concierge involved. The next day it took another 10 minutes to order lunch and about 40 to get our sandwich and salad. The Caesar salad was slathered in dressing and my wife wouldn't eat it. No... More

It was fantastic. It is a special place to have tea and you get the history of it also. The staff and the experiance is so pleasant. The location speaks for it self.

After a long day of touring my husband went to the room to rest while I went to the salon for the hotel's afternoon tea. They brought me a beautiful selection of cookies and a full pot of tea with lovely china. It was the perfect way to relax and unwind.

A really good British style tea served in the most beautiful lobby. The tea was served on lovely china. There was a very slight blip when we placed our order but it was all resolved in true Ritz style.

I'm not much of a connoisseur of what a typical British styled afternoon tea is like since I've only had a few being from the USA. It's probably better in the UK If I recall. Nevertheless, they did have clotted cream and scones which are not so common in Madrid. I enjoyed it and the elegant atmosphere of the Ritz.... More

Staying in Paseo del Prado

Neighbourhood Profile
Paseo del Prado
The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
