We loved the homey feel of this restaurant. The Seafood Paella was fabulous - you have to order for at least two people. Also, the sliced ham and house wine were to die for!

Went there for the average good reviews, and ended up a little disappointed. The food was'nt that special, and the prices a little high. I wouldn't recommend this place, knowing that there are other good restaurants around. The waiters were nice though, and the service more than OK.

A truly authentic Spanish place. Traditional decor, good old-school food. Not fancy not top-chef style, but very tasty all the same. Very welcoming staff. Very reasonable prices (small b-fast: 2€, big one: 5€). Nothing to complain about, really. And there's a lot of locals here which does mean a lot IMHO. I don't think they speak English here neither, which... More

For 10,50 you can get one of the best menus del dia I've had in Madrid. The menu changes every day, but you can always choose from around 12 different plates for both a starter and a main course. Not to mention it comes with a drink, homemade dessert, and coffee. Today I had an iberian starter plate (sausage, jamón,... More

Our waitress at La Ursula spoke fairly good English but the rest of her family spoke none (we think mom was the chef, step-dad the bartender/manager, step-sister the other waitress). Across the street from the Lazaro Galdiano Museum, we got there as they opened at 7 PM and they were able to deal with my husband's allergy to garlic. My... More

Ate here after skipping intended destination (due to price). Simple menu but good food. Tomato bread and croquettes to start were brill. The Bacalao Ursula was the pick of the mains....cod with onions/garlic served on mashed potatoes with an orange juice heavy sauce - sounds bizarre but works. Pretty good Spanish bar atmosphere.

I have compared plenty of places of Pan con Tomate, and the Ursula is a you must if you like this very simple pleasure. Even simple things in life can be done in perfection.

This restaurant is frequent with both people working in this area ( financial district) and the crowds from nearby IE University. The menu is great, the food is tasty, a more than filling lunch is about 10 euro, and the service is good and fast.

After reading seceral comments from many sources I decided to come here for a set lunch while I was Madrid. The restaurant was packed with people who were on their lunch break. I thought to myself that this place gotta be ok. After being seated and taking a look at the set menu. I was approached by a waitress who... More

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
