Inexpensive with no frills but the seafood is fresh and tasty So if all you want is good food then it is excellent but very small seating area and very basic decor and can get very busy

A really informal typical place for seafood in Madrid. The place is simple, nothing special, but their food OMG! It is incredible! So tasty, fresh and yummy!! The place is always packed! Really worth it!;-)

Typical Spanish bar. Dodgy looking place, a bit dirty, old and full of old people who certainly know their food. If you want sea food, here's the place. Traditional tapas of good quality, right in the center. It's a must!

Great products with a very authentic touch is what you should expect from El Cantábrico. We had delicious tapas and all this right in the centre of Madrid. If you go, try out their crab!

Staying in Barrio de Salamanca

Neighbourhood Profile
Barrio de Salamanca
Broad, tree-lined avenues with pretty streetlights frame the neighbourhood of Barrio Salamanca. With beautiful condominium buildings that make up most blocks in this area, this part of town is refined and quiet. It is also host to a few of the city's large shopping avenues, including Calle Serrano and Calle Jose Ortega y Gasset. A walk down these streets will reveal upscale chains, small boutiques, and plenty of opportunities for shopping or checking out the stylish displays. The locals here are polished and fashionable, the atmosphere is leisurely, and the lush Retiro Park on the southern border is yet another opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. A stroll through Barrio Salamanca is all about admiring the beautiful architecture, window-shopping, and people-watching in this upper-crust corner of Madrid.
