The title says everything.. Best mushrooms in town, big variety, never found something similar. The place and the location would be 1-starred but food and service are great.

This is a very charming bar in the centre of Madrid with a very good selection of mushrooms. The best ones are no doubt the 'boletus'. The quantity is decent, although I think they are expensive. Nevertheless, it's a good place for mushrooms and 'raciones' in general, so worth the visit in my opinion.

We found this place by chance because we rented an apartment in the area when we were spending a few weeks in Madrid. I know it's out of most people's way, but if you happen to be in Moncloa or near the Parque del Oeste, put this restaurant on your list. It's one of my favorite meals in Spain in... More

We had a wonderful meal at El Imperio. We had the tasting plate including 5 types of mushrooms. We also had fried squash blossoms and rabo de toro. It was wonderful and wonderfully different. The service was pretty much average, but if I were waiting tables and having to duck in and out of the little door from the kitchen,... More

Staying in Chamberi

Neighbourhood Profile
Chamberi
Multi-story residential buildings decorated with ornate balconies line the traditional, quiet, and pretty streets of Chamberí. Humble storefronts and neighbourhood taverns are scattered across the lower levels down every block, and here and there, there's a cluster of tables on the sidewalk. It isn't ever crowded, but people are always out, poking into the tiny bakeries, hardware stores, and tobacco shops, or ducking into a bright, unadorned cerveceria to have a coffee or beer by the bar, flip through the paper, and check the sports score. The round Plaza Olavide, where the fairly regular network of streets breaks form, is among the most green and lively spots. Restaurants line its circumference and sought-after outdoor tables fill the center of the plaza, where people relax to the sounds of kids playing and street musicians' tunes.
