It’s a tiny gem in the center, with delicious food and fantastic staff! My wife and I both got “Puccia vegetariana” and the friendly lady that was taking our order, suggest without hesitation to make them a little different so that we have two variations. It’s little things like that, that make the difference. Highly recommend!!!

Delicious!!!

The personal were so friendly, they speak English and explain the menu if you have any doubt. There is also a weekly recommended pizza out of the menu. We order two pizza Margherita and there were delicious, every ingredient tasted so fresh and the pizza mass was very soft. I highly recommend this place!

Really delicious pizza

Not sure about the concept of "best ever"when it comes to pizza but we went to Il Rusticone last week and the pizza was absolutely delicious, really outstanding. I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable and fun. Not many tables as has been noted elsewhere but one can have a glass of wine indoors whilst waiting. Imagine it gets extremely busy in high season so maybe go early, 8-ish or after ten?

Terrible. Went here for dinner based on the review but we were very disappointed! My son and I order a pizza each and both had a lovely base ring but the rest was very soggy. My prosciutto Crudo was so salty I mostly had the cheese and the sides. My son didn’t enjoy his prosciutto e fungi either. To make thing worse, my son needed the toilet and the chef claimed they didn’t have one. I could tell he was lying I just don’t know why! What kind of sit down eatery doesn’t have access to a toilet? We’ve been travelling around Italy for a week and small places that might not have a toilet on their premises always have access to one near by. Needless to say we had to leave our terrible food and half drunk drink and go look for a toilet. Not sure how this place got so many good reviews!

Pizzeria in Matera at the beginning of the Sassi! 4 outdoor seating tables! We booked for 8.15pm, sat down at 9.00pm and started eating at 9.30pm! An absolute delirium as the pizzeria also works with takeaway and detail! Friendly staff, but bad service! For the amazingly good pizza I would have given 5 but for the organization the rating 1 is also too much! Recommendation, but arm yourself with infinite patience!

Great pizzas and puccie

It is a street food place located at the beginning of the pedestrian area. Very small with 3/4 tables outside. We booked to have dinner there, the service was fast because they try to encourage the rotation of the tables so as not to create wait for customers, the waitress who served us was very kind and gave us directions also to be able to please the children. They do not have restaurants but only pizza and puccie. The pizza we ate was great for product quality and cooking, as was the puccia. I absolutely recommend it for pizza lovers.

High Quality Casual Eating

This is a really good place for a casual dinner. It isn't somewhere to have a long sit in meal. My girlfriend and I went there after a long day and were really happy. The menu is mainly pizzas and beer but the level of quality is way above what I am normally used to. I had a pizza with prosciutto ham and an Imperial beer. Both were excellent and I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the meal was. It was probably the nicest pizza I can remember having. There was a good busy atmosphere around the restaurant. There were a lot of people coming and going, we were lucky to get a seat on some stools. The owner's child popped in and walked straight into the kitchen to say hello to all the staff in there. We could hear the friendly/ casual banter between the staff. We were glad we went as we could see lots of people around Matera with the Il Rusticone pizza boxes and wondered what all the fuss was about. We weren't disappointed

Great pizza, great value and the delightful Marianne

I have been to Italy many times and before I went people always talk about the delicious pizzas. Well after years of eating Italian pizza I have now found the best place to eat pizza in Italy. I had the parmanesn pizza. It was so tasty that I rang my wife to come down to to the restaurant and try it out So tasty and great value served to me by the delightful Marianne. Well worth a visit and easy to see why it has good reviews. 5 ⭐

Quick bite to eat

Found this place on our 1st day in Matera and went back a further 2 times. For us it was perfect to stop for 20 mins and have a quick bite to eat and drink. Choice is limited but enough, place is small, 8 stalls inside and about 4 tables outside. For me it’s a perfect ‘pit stop’ with little fuss and good food.

This restaurant has the best pizza I have tried, the dough is perfect and the local produce is amazing. The woman who served us was so welcoming and the service was incredible. I would recommend to anyone. Grazie Mille for a wonderful time.

Dinner at "wind"

We arrive in Matera in the evening. A colleague tells me about this place. We'll try it for dinner. Small table on the street, secluded. In the evening it gets windy and they promptly provide us with two chenille blankets. Cool!. I try the pizza, delicious, well made, tasty. My wife takes a cutting board, with typical products, cold cuts, cheeses etc. All very good. Surrounded by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. if I were to return to Matera....I will stay there again. Advised!!

Although I personally wish that I had chosen a different pizza (I chose one with too many cheeses and it was a bit overwhelming) my husband and sons who picked more typical pizzas loved this place and wanted to go back repeatedly. Delicious and good value for money. Also very well located

Fabulous casual dining

We waited for a table (only 4 outside) at this little place and were glad that we did! The sandwiches, one veggie and one with meat, were delicious, as were the pizza and salad. Not thrilled with the wine, but that was minor. As busy as they were, the help were all pleasant and efficient.

Best pizza of our lives eaten in Matera

Looking for a pizzeria in Matera, we have reserved a table due to the excellent reviews. The pizzas we ate: Margherita, Quattro stagioni, Tonno were the best we have ever had...and we are often traveling in Italy...unfortunately the place is small and without prior Reservation it will not be easy to get a seat. The crowd of guests is great, which confirms my positive review. We will definitely come back

Walking in the center of Matera we discovered a very simple place. Rusticone is a street food whose strong point is the very hydrated and light dough of their pizzas and pucce together with the quality of the raw materials, offering decidedly normal and not at all exaggerated prices.
