We were really early for dinner and managed to get a table on the patio overlooking the Sassi just as the sun was setting. Service was attentive, menu and wine list solid and the view amazing. The restaurant was incredibly busy by 7, many people holding out for tables overlooking the city (they were still waiting when we left). We... More

I believe this place should give to the tourists and local people something more! Everything is essential but not enough to live to the visitor a really good memory. The food is in the average but it could be improved and made unique. The food in Basilicata is much much better!!!

Great spot that is family owned. Staff was great easily managing several large groups (and us) simultaneously. Food was great and prices very reasonable.

Perched on a hillside, Il Terrazino is dug into a "cave". Very popular, beautiful view from altitude, especially at night. Enjoyed the pizza Norma..with delicious eggplant. The highlight came AFTER the meal when we were invited to visit the "cantina"...lower levels deeper down into the caves where wine , wine flasks, ancient implements were stored and displayed down hand-carved (and... Some of the slowest restaurant service I have ever experienced! We chose the tourist menu which was a bad mistake and poor value. This restaurant apparently considers it OK to describe a plate of lettuce leaves as a "mixed salad". The main course I had consisted of a thin slice of veal and nothing else. Nice views from this restaurant... More

Service was appalling. There were six of us. We didn't get one of our meals until after everyone else had finished and the person in our group that didn't get their food didn't even get told they had run out of what had been ordered until everyone else had finished eating! There was no apology. Then when we tried to... More

Good honest food, served by attentive staff that spoke both english and italian. View from terrace is nice. I would absolutely go back again. Reasonably priced. It IS a popular place so go there early or make a reservation.

We arrived just after 7,on a Saturday night early September, and got a table at the front of the terrace with an amazing view. By the time we left there were people queuing up the stairs. Food was good and portions generous! For the first time in a while I could not finish my pizza, which was heaped with topping.... More

We ate here for supper after walking through sassi. We were greatly surprised by die amazing view and the quite "cheap" (affordable) prices. The atmosphere, interior, service and quality of food goes far beyond the price of the food. We had a great time and would say this is a must visit when you are in Matera!

Stopped here for lunch. We were lucky and got the last open table that was outside. Ordered lunch, which include antipasto and Ricotto cheese and bufalo mozzarella. Then a great past dish of the day. Boy was I stuffed.

The Restaurant Pizzeria The Balcony Matera is surrounded by the stunning landscape of the "Sassi". It is the ideal place to enjoy the excellent cuisine traditional Lucan, godendo al contempo dello scenario dei Sassi di Matera. It owes its name to the wide terrace che si affaccia sul meraviglioso scenario del Sasso Barisano.
