My wife and I spent a month in Naples with a few days travelling around. we spent one night in Matera and chose this restaurant based on the reviews. this did not disappoint. We had the best meal of our entire holiday. It was quite pricey, but the service was excellent. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was wonderful, and we had a rather fine wine. a service charge was included but for this we actually got a small entre dish and bread (so many places now seem to include quite steep service charges but do not even give you bread). I thoroughly recommend eating here.

Dimitria is a new restaurant in Matera and the quality of the food is excellent. The staff is professional and happy to answer any questions about the menu. We are Canadian and were very happy that our lovely Ukrainian waitress spoke English. The manager, Franco, was attentive and made sure that we enjoyed every dish we ordered, he even joined us in a local after-dinner digestif of Lucano. The cook speaks English and came out to explain how the dishes were prepared. The ambiance is upscale but the prices very reasonable and we would return here in a heartbeat. We highly recommend you give this restaurant a try if you are in Matera :)

We have been to Dimitria in occasion of a little family get together and celebration and it was just perfect. The food is tasty and well presented and the staff is very caring and attentive to the guests' needs. The location is charming and plus for the background music choice.

The owner of this restaurant takes great pride in both the quality of the food and the service. We had a great time dining here after visiting the sites in Matera. We had the grilled vegetables starter which was excellent. We had four different pasta dishes and thought the pesto was the best, but all were homemade, fresh and had huge portions. Bonus points for being well air conditioned!

Fantastic restaurant for tourists and locals alike. We were warmly received and spoiled with extras throughout our lunch time meal. The antipasti, the traditional fave è cicoria and the melanzana ripiena were delicious. The pignata was equally tasty and the baccalà accompanied by the local peperoni cruschi was perfectly cooked. The owner made us try a new dish not on the menu yet, orecchiette al sugo di agnello piccante. We would highly recommend that dish if it's on the menu by the time you get there. The coffee and crema di limoncello were on the house and we left with some other goodies from their shop, which offers organic pasta and many other locally produced delights. It was a fabulous lunch, thank you Dimitria!

Very slow and poorly organized service, the restaurant would like to elevate itself to a gourmet style with small portions and high prices... it's a shame that the quality of the food is not up to par.
Many accompanying side dishes were finished, so the main dishes chosen each arrived with different vegetables (therefore not those chosen and reported on the menu) but clearly the price remained the same...instead of broad beans and chicory, face and chard! In all this we had two children, a 6 month old and a 1 year and 3 month old, they paid 3 euros cover charge each! But please….

January 5th, we book for 18 people, semi-empty place, we ask waitress 1 to bring us some appetizers while waiting for the arrival of other friends. 45 minutes pass and nothing arrives, we call her and she replies that she had understood to bring them later. He takes everyone's order, then summarizes. After 2 minutes he comes back and reads the order again from the beginning. After 10 minutes the waiter arrives and reads the order again and we answer by show of hands! It felt like Super Quiz! We didn't like the quality of the food. Grilled caciocavallo hard as a stone served on dry and tasteless bruschetta. Baked potatoes arrive boiled, freshly prepared tiramisu with hard ladyfingers! I don't like leaving negative reviews but I hope they can help improve because the service is totally disappointing and the cuisine too. Exaggerated prices for the quality of the food. Sorry but we won't be back!

The restaurant is just on the edge of the Sassi. Unlike many of those inside it earns its footfall with the quality of the food and service. We were treated with the best service and fantastic food on our visit. Perfectly cooked steak, awesome parmigiana and great wine. Reasonably priced, relaxed and a nice limoncello to finish.

We had dinner there at 8pm in April. It was moderately busy.
The food was really excellent. I had a really unusual risotto ‘Gran riserva’ including Amaretto and a perfectly cooked tagliata with a side of mushrooms.
There was a good range of reasonably priced wines.
It wouldn’t take much to fix, but the service does need work. No one came to even take a drink order for over 15 minutes. We then had to ask for the bill three times at the end. The waitress was perfectly friendly but the place is missing commercial opportunities by not providing more prompt service. We would have ordered more to drink if they had, which I am sure would help margins.
I’d like this place to succeed as the chef is clearly very good.

Dinner with a colleague. We came to Matera several times for work and tried various restaurants. Dimitria is the best of the ones we tried. Very good food, fair value for money.
I had caciocavallo cooked on the grill, fusilli creamed with ricotta, basil and almonds, and for the second course a typical dish of the peasant tradition, the "pignata": lamb cooked with various herbs in an earthenware pan, closed with a sheet of bread which remains crunchy and is then eaten together with the lamb. Really good.
The maitre d' was also very friendly and knowledgeable and recommended a good wine, which was also reasonably priced. I'm only sorry that we were both completely out of cash and couldn't leave him anything as a tip.
We finally found our restaurant in Matera. We will be back!

Dimitria Restaurant proved to be an exceptional choice for our New Year's Eve dinner. The elegant and refined atmosphere welcomed customers to a special evening, creating a memorable experience from the first moment.
The restaurant staff demonstrated professionalism and attention to detail. The service was impeccable, with staff who were courteous and attentive to customer needs, ensuring that every moment lived up to the expectations of such an important evening.
The culinary selection was a real triumph. The dishes proposed by the chef were a hymn to refinement, with fresh ingredients and impeccable presentations. The variety of flavors satisfied every palate present at the table, and the attention to detail in the preparation of the dishes was evident from the first taste.
The New Year's Eve dinner at Dimitria offered a special menu (sea and mountains) which ranged from delicious appetizers, refined first courses, succulent second courses and traditional desserts. The choice of wines and drinks added further touches of class to the dining experience.
Ultimately, the New Year's Eve dinner at the Dimitria Restaurant was a true celebration of taste and elegance. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience in a classy setting.

This relatively new, 16 months, restaurant in city center, Matera, Italy is fantastic. The pasta dishes are superb. My wife had a tagliatelle with truffles that was delious (tagliolini of the chef). Franco, the manager, and his entire staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Great wine selection, some organic, are available at reasonable prices. We had a local, Matera, primitivo that we enjoyed. We had a very enjoyable evening for 80 euros.

Salvatore treated us like princes from the time he showed us to our table to the capping off of our meal with a complimentary amaro distilled by a local producer. In between he offered gracious service, great food and wine recommendations and discreet check-ins to make sure we were enjoying our food and dining experience. We chose this restaurant because it prepares dishes that are featured in the local cuisine— the bread polpette and orecchiette with veal were outstanding, made even better by the rosato wine Salvatore suggested… a perfect match with our dinner. There are many dining options visitors to Matera can consider— I’d suggest that this one be at the top of their lists.

Very nice and refined place. Very kind and polite staff. Mouth-watering dishes!
We had a tasting of local dishes as a starter and a first course as a main course... sublime!
Having booked with The Fork we were entitled to a 20% discount so the dinner cost a total of €60 for two, a well-deserved figure for the quality of the dishes consumed.
Highly recommended!

The food was extraordinary and only outdone by the friendly, excellent service. We started with a Chicory and broad beans dish and followed that with two delicious pastas. Leave room for the Sporcamusi for dessert. You will not regret it.
