We left from Florence to visit Matera, a wonderful city in the evening for dinner at the Taccardi Restaurant in Matera offering an excellent culinary experience with delicious appetizers, wonderful first courses and irresistible desserts, in particular the cheesecake and the dirty musoon. The selection of house wines is excellent, and the atmosphere is made even more pleasant by the kindness of Gianfranco, the owner. Prices are modest, and the location close to the pedestrian area for the stones makes it an ideal choice. Highly recommended for a gastronomic experience in Matera.

We chose the restaurant 900 Casa Taccardi in Matera to celebrate a 60th birthday with the family (6 people), and we could not have made a better choice! The menu, agreed in advance, exceeded all expectations: carefully prepared dishes, excellent quality ingredients and authentic flavors that have conquered everyone.
The restaurant is elegant and welcoming, perfect for a special occasion, but at the same time has a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was extremely kind and professional, always attentive to our needs and ready to make us feel comfortable.
Finally, a positive note also for the quality-price ratio: low prices for a really high level of service and quality.
We highly recommend 900 Casa Taccardi for both special events and a quiet lunch/dinner. We will definitely be back!

Very nice location just outside the most touristy area of the historic center.
It was a wonderful discovery! The owner Gianfranco Taccardi, in a moment of pause, illustrated his philosophy and above all his pasta production project by recovering both ancient flours and traditional methods.
We found it all in the dishes: the pastas we took were truly DIVINE, digestible and beautifully cooked. The second courses were equally wonderful, and to finish the desserts were wonderful, with an unforgettable Sporcamuss. To finish, the bitter Lucano offered, and the discount with The Fork applied made it an exceptional value for money. Highly recommended

I went to New Year's lunch with my family, from appetizers to dessert it was all a deep disappointment. First of all they served us a pumpkin and sausage pie that apparently looked inviting, but once opened, it was liquid, and the base was completely burned, and from this I immediately realized that the relationship between the ingredients and the cooking was wrong. Afterwards they served us an "off menu" which was a seasoned octopus that was not fresh with practically raw and inedible side potatoes. Not to mention the first, a lasagna made of a double sheet and full of minced meat and meatballs, without infamy or praise, without any particular flavor. The second was the roast lamb, while me and 3 other people who do not eat lamb, we asked as an alternative a blood cut, but alas here there was a fall in style. The roast was black and so hard to cut that even the knife could not cut it, so much so that those who took it sent it back because it was inedible and the potato cake that accompanied it was just as inedible because the potatoes were not cooked. While the cut was not a cut but a rib, and it was not even blood. The photos speak for themselves. To conclude, I expected a special dessert, as presented on the menu as "artisan panettone", but it was no more or less than a very basic panettone with raisins and candied fruits than those bought at the supermarket... Therefore I do not recommend it to anyone.

Sorry to give only two stars.
The food is good, typical dishes.
The low score is due to the dislike of the staff, apart from Julien the owner's son.
The atmosphere created during dinner was unpleasant due to various loud quarrels in the kitchen while we ate
What's more, at checkout, the owner was very grumpy when we informed him that we were entitled to a 20% discount having booked through The Fork. In addition, the discount has not been applied to all dishes ordered

It will be me who understand nothing about food, or those who have reviewed this place understand much more about food than me.
We took 2 first courses, one very, too tasty, the other tasteless that you could not understand what we were eating.
I take the typical pignata of Matera, value 28 € for not even half a kg of meat, practically sweet, which I almost had the doubt that they have exchanged salt with sugar.
But the thing that made me laugh the most was that at the checkout, he told me that the discount with the fork was only about the first showing me that it was written on the menu, in an undefined place that practically someone like me who could not know and be made fun of.
Basically for 2 first, 1 second and a half liter of wine, the bill sarebbw came more than 80 € and for what I ate, honestly was not even worth half.
I will definitely not return.

Buona vita!

In an evening that I would define as complicated we end up in this restaurant on the edge of the center of Matera. Cozy and well furnished place managed in the dining room by the owner and a young and elegant lady, probably also the owner. The place is practically full, a couple of free tables are occupied immediately after our arrival. We order three appetizers, three first courses, a platter and a salad and after about 40 minutes two appetizers are brought. It is clear that there are problems because the service is very slow even at the other tables and in any case, given the number of diners, two people serving are few. After a quarter of an hour I ask about the third starter which had not arrived with the others and after about 10 minutes it arrives. We ask for an explanation of the slowness and the lady tells us that they have a shortage of staff because an employee is giving birth (we hope in hospital). In the meantime, people continue to arrive and are still welcomed at the tables that have been vacated in the meantime. After an hour and a half from our arrival, seeing that one of us still hadn't eaten anything and seeing that the slowness was increasing, since the lady had practically moved to the kitchen where she was often joined by the owner (the room therefore remained unattended ) we decide to leave, paying for what we consumed. At that point the owners get animated, claiming that you come to the restaurant for a moment of relaxation and it's not their fault if they had problems. So, although guilty, we leave the restaurant with a practically empty stomach and with a bill of 50 euros for two broad beans with chicory, bread balls, half a liter of house wine and two minerals. What to say? Let's hope it was a bad evening, as it can happen, because otherwise, with all the wonderful reviews of this place, it's enough to tremble.

The quality of the meal wasn't bad but wasn't up to the standard of the other fine dining restaurants in Matera. My girlfriend and I had 2 courses each. I had a seafood starter. I could immediately taste that the quality of the food wasn't great though the portion was of a good size. My main was a pasta/ mince mix. I actually couldn't finish it as I couldn't take much more of the grizzle like meat. The wine was produced by the restaurant, that was quite nice.
The staff then wanted us out to close up, they weren't very subtle about this. They would regularly walk over to our table to see if we were finished before we could finish our mains and the wine. I generally don't mind this but we felt they were slightly too pushy.
Not a bad restaurant at all but it's slightly higher priced than the quality of food served.

As soon as we arrived, the owner was very courteous and immediately accompanied us in the experience of traditional Matera cuisine. We appreciated the characteristic and cozy internal environment, with a welcoming atmosphere. Dishes with a delicate and strong flavor at the same time, with a dessert dating back to 3000 years ago in conclusion, always reflecting the Lucanian tradition. Friendly and helpful staff. Finally, as regards the price, it was in line with the high quality of the raw materials, therefore of the products tasted. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, so we highly recommend it. Compliments to the owner and the chef; we hope to return soon.

Yesterday on our first evening in Maretana, by chance and luck we got to know this restaurant where the friendliness of Gianfranco and his family welcomed us from the first moment as if we were at home with friends.
After an offered prosecco we were immediately asked to taste the famous crunchy and fragrant crusco pepper.
Moving directly to the first courses, the sublime orecchiette with yellow datterino tomatoes, pezzentia sausage and bruschetta breadcrumbs and the cavatelli with turnip greens, anchovies, bruschetta bread crumbs and crusco pepper.
While waiting for the second courses we were made to taste a very delicate, perfect broad bean and legume mousse.
Continued with excellent beef rolls with vegetables and mixed grill with lamb, pezzente sausage and black pig capocollo.
Before the sweet finale we exchange a few words with the owner of the house and his very nice son like old friends and we are made to taste some mouth-watering crescents with aubergines and caciocavallo.
The dirty snout with custard rigorously made in case is delicious.
The local wine paired with it is good.
Fast service, excellent value for money with products that come directly from his farm.
If you go to Matera don't miss the opportunity to meet Gianfranco and his restaurant.

Somewhat away from the tourist center, this restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but is very welcoming inside.
We opted for a complete set meal for €22 offered for lunch. Composed only of local dishes made from fresh produce, we were seduced by a soup, followed by a pasta dish and meat accompanied by bean-based mash. A real treat !
The boss had a nice touch for each of us by offering us a box of pasta from the local family business.
To advise without reservation.

What a bad unprofessional arrogant service. The wine was way too hot, but the lady knew to tell me that only white wine is served cold. So I had to make peace with the fact that the wine was easily 30° or more. Lamb stew was just fat and bone. As an Italian one has not been able to serve the pasta with ragú. Il faut le faire.

Rarely do you find a place with so many qualities.
Let's start with the food: local products of the highest quality presented by the owner who describes their history and virtues. It combines quality with a quantity that entices and fully satisfies.
Excellent value for money.
It presents its products (pasta, cereals, taralli) which can also be purchased at an affordable price. If you want to taste the house wine, it is also very satisfying, frank, full-bodied, which accompanies food with balance.
Experience to try! Trust me... and then tell us if we're wrong!
Let him explain the dishes…. You will be enchanted.

Never was the choice so right... I usually start from the location, but this time I want to applaud Mr. Gianfranco, owner of this oasis of taste, who turned out to be friendly and attentive to his customers, following them and guaranteeing the best for his customers... the location is harmonious and welcoming with a lot of kindness and attention from the staff. As regards the food, first of all I think it is the best Christmas on a culinary level so far, secondly the cuisine proposed manages to enhance the taste of even simple things, I could mention the salted crusco pepper ice cream or the wonderful second course consisting of scottona fillet wrapped in bread crust... last but not least, the exceptional pasta, both the lasagna and the excellent tagliottini, also added a touch with the wine they produce. In short, if you want to eat well and be pampered by the flavors and attention of Mr. Gianfranco, you can't help but come here to eat. Thanks again for the wonderful day and I hope to return soon… I won't tell you everything because you have to see it to believe it!!!!
