We left from Florence to visit Matera, a wonderful city in the evening for dinner at the Taccardi Restaurant in Matera offering an excellent culinary experience with delicious appetizers, wonderful first courses and irresistible desserts, in particular the cheesecake and the dirty musoon. We chose the restaurant 900 Casa Taccardi in Matera to celebrate a 60th birthday with the family (6 people), and we could not have made a better choice! The menu, agreed in advance, exceeded all expectations: carefully prepared dishes, excellent quality ingredients and authentic flavors that have conquered everyone.
The restaurant is elegant and welcoming, perfect for a special occasion, but at the same time has a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff was extremely kind and professional, always attentive to our needs and ready to make us feel comfortable.
Finally, a positive note also for the quality-price ratio: low prices for a really high level of service and quality.

Very nice location just outside the most touristy area of the historic center.
It was a wonderful discovery! The owner Gianfranco Taccardi, in a moment of pause, illustrated his philosophy and above all his pasta production project by recovering both ancient flours and traditional methods.
We found it all in the dishes: the pastas we took were truly DIVINE, digestible and beautifully cooked. The second courses were equally wonderful, and to finish the desserts were wonderful, with an unforgettable Sporcamuss. I went to New Year's lunch with my family, from appetizers to dessert it was all a deep disappointment. First of all they served us a pumpkin and sausage pie that apparently looked inviting, but once opened, it was liquid, and the base was completely burned, and from this I immediately realized that the relationship between the ingredients and the cooking was wrong. In an evening that I would define as complicated we end up in this restaurant on the edge of the center of Matera. Cozy and well furnished place managed in the dining room by the owner and a young and elegant lady, probably also the owner. The place is practically full, a couple of free tables are occupied immediately after our arrival. We order three appetizers, three first courses, a platter and a salad and after about 40 minutes two appetizers are brought. It is clear that there are problems because the service is very slow even at the other tables and in any case, given the number of diners, two people serving are few. After a quarter of an hour I ask about the third starter which had not arrived with the others and after about 10 minutes it arrives. We ask for an explanation of the slowness and the lady tells us that they have a shortage of staff because an employee is giving birth (we hope in hospital). In the meantime, people continue to arrive and are still welcomed at the tables that have been vacated in the meantime. After an hour and a half from our arrival, seeing that one of us still hadn't eaten anything and seeing that the slowness was increasing, since the lady had practically moved to the kitchen where she was often joined by the owner (the room therefore remained unattended ) we decide to leave, paying for what we consumed. The quality of the meal wasn't bad but wasn't up to the standard of the other fine dining restaurants in Matera. My girlfriend and I had 2 courses each. I had a seafood starter. I could immediately taste that the quality of the food wasn't great though the portion was of a good size. My main was a pasta/ mince mix. I actually couldn't finish it as I couldn't take much more of the grizzle like meat. The wine was produced by the restaurant, that was quite nice.
The staff then wanted us out to close up, they weren't very subtle about this. They would regularly walk over to our table to see if we were finished before we could finish our mains and the wine. I generally don't mind this but we felt they were slightly too pushy.
Not a bad restaurant at all but it's slightly higher priced than the quality of food served.

As soon as we arrived, the owner was very courteous and immediately accompanied us in the experience of traditional Matera cuisine. We appreciated the characteristic and cozy internal environment, with a welcoming atmosphere. Dishes with a delicate and strong flavor at the same time, with a dessert dating back to 3000 years ago in conclusion, always reflecting the Lucanian tradition. Friendly and helpful staff. Finally, as regards the price, it was in line with the high quality of the raw materials, therefore of the products tasted. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, so we highly recommend it. Compliments to the owner and the chef; we hope to return soon.

Yesterday on our first evening in Maretana, by chance and luck we got to know this restaurant where the friendliness of Gianfranco and his family welcomed us from the first moment as if we were at home with friends.
After an offered prosecco we were immediately asked to taste the famous crunchy and fragrant crusco pepper.

Somewhat away from the tourist center, this restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but is very welcoming inside.
We opted for a complete set meal for €22 offered for lunch. Composed only of local dishes made from fresh produce, we were seduced by a soup, followed by a pasta dish and meat accompanied by bean-based mash. A real treat !
The boss had a nice touch for each of us by offering us a box of pasta from the local family business.

Never was the choice so right... I usually start from the location, but this time I want to applaud Mr. Gianfranco, owner of this oasis of taste, who turned out to be friendly and attentive to his customers, following them and guaranteeing the best for his customers... the location is harmonious and welcoming with a lot of kindness and attention from the staff. As regards the food, first of all I think it is the best Christmas on a culinary level so far, secondly the cuisine proposed manages to enhance the taste of even simple things, I could mention the salted crusco pepper ice cream or the wonderful second course consisting of scottona fillet wrapped in bread crust... last but not least, the exceptional pasta, both the lasagna and the excellent tagliottini, also added a touch with the wine they produce.
