Had lunch here on a very hot day based upon a recommendation. Had to wait for a place in the shade. Service was generally poor and grumpy. Charged cover charge for all of us even though my wife had nothing there and the rest of us received no bread or olives etc. White pizza was good though

The reason for this low rating was not the quality of the food, which was edible. If I were rating the food alone I would have given it a 2-3. The thing that left me angry and swearing under my breath as we walked out of this restaurant was the very poor service we received and the rudeness of the... More

After a long drive from Fazano to Salerno we stopped at Matera for a quick lunch. This is a touristic place with excellent cook. We had a light lunch . The location was overlooking the old site . The atmosphere is busy business serving many tables at once. The quality of food was good and above average. Service was a... More

This place came as a recommendation from a local so we gave it a go late, on our first night in Matera. It was full of locals, it seemed ,and full of life. We could only do justice to a pizza and salad with two glasses of prosecco and a carafe of local wine but it was just what we... More

After a long and arduous morning of climbing up and down the Sassi, my wife and I walked into the pedestrian zone in Via Ridola and sat under the shade of a restaurant umbrella. We ordered tramezzini and drinks. There, in the silence of old Matera, with the sun around us and the smell of flowers we ate our small... More

Arrived late in the town and this restuarant still open with a good atmosphere . All Italians eating many courses but we could only manage a shared Antipasta and 2 nd course. All our dishes very good. Staff very pleasant .

Friends brought us here for a lunch in an informal, familial setting. We were impressed by a very large choice of antipasti, including ham and pancetta, deep-fried peppers, mushrooms, cheeses, which we all greatly enjoyed. We also liked other local foods such as a dish of artichoke stems and pureed fava beans.

We ate at Al Falco Grillaio on our first evening in Matera. Tired from a long journey all we really fancied was a pizza each and it was getting rather late in the evening. The restaurant was almost full but we were lucky to find a spot for two indoors as it was too chilly to eat outside. We both... More
