About
Among tasty Campania specialties, a careful selection of wines and an intimate and elegant environment, the Garum restaurant - opened in December 2011 by the owner Fioravante Iovine - will be remembered for the high quality of the raw materials used, for the variety of the menu ( which alternates fixed dishes with seasonal ones) and for the attention to local tradition, wisely revisited and reworked. The main dish of the restaurant - which is what gives it its name - are spaghetti al Garum, or anchovy sauce, a "modern" version of the ancient Roman sauce - called Garum - from which it probably descends.

We chose this restaurant as it was near the hotel where we were staying and we were very pleased we did. We sat outside under an awning with fans to help keep us cool and were welcomed with a glass of fizz and a small fried appetiser. First course I had spaghetti with Garum (Fresh anchovies, pine nuts, raisins and cherry tomatoes) and my wife had Ravioli with crab meat and provola on a cream of courgettes. Second course I had Fillet with green peppers cooked perfectly rare and my wife had the sesame tuna with raspberry and red onion reductions. Both dishes were excellent. For desert we both had Tiramisu which was nice and boozy. The service was excellent and I highly recommend Garum when visiting Pompeii.

Our waiter greeted us by name as we entered the restaurant. He was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The food and presentation were exquisite. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Garum. By the way, the tiramisu was so drenched in rum (in a good way), I feared that my sobriety would be in jeopardy.

Wonderful food. Attentive, friendly but not overbearing service - just right. The tris of the antipasti was delicious and I really recommend it for a good variety of dishes as well as value for money. Prices are very fair for what is offered. No quibbles here. My only gripe was that my spaghetti con frutti di mare seem to have been forgotten on the pass-through and were a little on the cold side. Otherwise really good and thoroughly recommended.

We had a reservation and they tried to fit the four of us in a small table, anyway we were not comfortable..The food was not bad but with tiny portions and too expensive. Since we were celebrating a birthday we asked when we did the reservation if they could bring us as dessert a cake with two candles, they said ok but there was no cake surprise but instead a small brownie with one candle. I don't reconnend this restaurant I'm sure there are better places in Naples.

This was one of the best restaurants I have had dinner at, in a long, long time! The food was innovative, surprising, original and above all: delicious. Service was warm and amicable. We had combinations of fish and provolone that we had never ever experienced. The Spaghetti Garum is fabulous, the tuna was grilled to perfection, and the service was execllent. We had a truly happy meal!

The service was excellent. The head waiter explained the dishes perfectly and what we got exceeded our expectations. The food was delicate, delicious and exquisite. We had an anti pasti which we shared followed by a fresh fish. Highly recommended.

Went here for lunch on our last day in Pompeii, after walking past the restaurant several times. We were attracted by the menu of seafood dishes, and weren't disappointed. The fish soup with beans was just delicious to start and my main course of mixed seafood grill was simple, perfectly fresh, and just delicious. This restaurant also has an extensive wine cellar, and you'll have no trouble finding a good bottle. We just went with the house white which turned out to be a very acceptable wine produced locally on the slopes of Vesuvius. It was good enough to repeat the order a couple of times. Highly recommended, and to top it off it's very close to Pompeii station and the train to Naples.

Me and my wife visited on sept 28. The restaurant is mentioned in our slowfood guide. We both cook a lot and know good food and have a long history with Italian cuisine and fine dining. We had a Tris di antipasti di mare, shared a perfectly baked, juicy and very very tasty spigola (sea bass) al forno, baba al rhum and cheesecake for dessert. Diligent, friendly and enthusiastic staff, lots of friendly banter despite my bad Italian. The main focus is locally sourced seafood, meat and produce, everything fresh and creatively combined, not too fancy, just masterly composed and traditional. Good pricing, digestivi on the house. Must visit; parking possible at the train station close by. Thanks for this lovely evening!

We booked a 7:30 reservation and were warmly greeted. The waiter was a little brash when answering the questions we had regarding the menu. I ordered caprese salad (as we were near Capri, home of the caprese salad) and the tomatoes were not quite ripe and therefor le, the salad just didn’t have the same wonderful mix of flavors. The gnocchi which was my main course was absolutely delicious! The sauce was a mixture of tomato and mozzarella cheese and it was melt in your mouth amazing! They also gave us a complimentary piece of fried polenta, which as tasty.

Garum was the first place we ate at in Pompei and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. I had the linguini and my friend had the cod. We were both so happy with our food and the service. They gave us complementary champagne along with little arancini balls. Our dishes were more than decent portions and good value for money. Very glad we dined there and would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends who are passing through or staying in Pompeii for a few nights.

I recommend! Very polite service, we were taken care of from the very entrance, the waiters checked if we were missing anything, we got a gift as an appetizer to start. High quality wine, exquisite and tasty dishes, 10/10. Delicious risotto and spaghetti with fresh seafood. Large portions. Inside, it's atmospheric and elegant.

From trying to pawn off a 2021 wine as 2018 (my husband asked where the date was on the bottle, and the waiter turned it around to say, oh, its a 2021) to telling us after we ordered that there was no eggplant (pumpkin parmegiano), and that the baccala grigliate was served with cheese and mushrooms (I accepted that, but in fact it was fried), we figured the waiter was just serving out his time. It didn't help that after we refused the first wine, he tried to give us a wine that cost twice as much (it's a little more he said; how much more we asked) and then got a mid priced bottle that was so corked I could smell it when he opened it. This claims to be an enoteca and he couldn't smell the mold??? I give the restaurant a 3 because the food was good. There was a woman waiter who tried to help (give her a promotion!), and I appreciated her. Everything was further confused by the fact the menus are pre-Covid printed; one is expected to use a telephone to see what's available (couldn't they just print that out?) Finally, the owner asked was everything to our liking, to which we responded no. He was shocked and offered us a glass of limoncello (which we receive at every restaurant anyway. no thanks).

We had an amazing lunch here after seeing the ruins at Pompeii. It’s away from the tourist traps but not far to walk. Beautiful seafood pastas and gorgeous wine. The wine list is to die for and it’s a foodie heaven. They were incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of their way with the children - one has a seafood allergy and they cooked chips in separate oil to the normal one because of his allergy which was really kind. Highly recommend!

This is a gem of a restaurant and wine shop. The wine list on the internet does not do it justice. The food is amazing! With a good menu selection. The beautiful presented fresh fish was expertly cooked and deboned at the table . Would highly recommend this restaurant.
