Just off the bottom end of Via Cavour 2 minutes from the Forum and 5 minutes from the Colosseum we found the small and authentic looking restaurant one lunchtime Service wasn't the slickest you've ever seen but we were in no rush and had some really nice bread, Tripe Romana and Artichoke Risotto with 2 large beers for E33 which... Bibí, the waiter, did our day with her excellent service and spanish speaking conversation. Her positive attitude toward service really make the difference.

Food was ok, not great, not bad. Way too much olive oil on the bruschetta. They don't serve cappuccino by the way. Waiter was friendly enough. Price bit high imo.

Food was not hot, took a long time to come and was bland. The bill was far more than was ordered and the waiter had the cheek to ask for a top afterwards. Avoid at all costs.

Looks like we were the only guests this afternoon. The lady tried to sell us random food, even though we told her what we wanted. The oscobucco was undercooked, and boring. The pasta was okayish. The service was more about trying to convince us to order things we clearly didn't wanted, than helpful.

Until recently I had this theory: "In France and Italy, there is nowhere you can go and get a bad meal. Even the crappiest of locations will offer you an above average meal"... Not anymore. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Al Cardello probably the worst restaurant in the whole of Italy (certainly the worst in Rome). We are walking... More

My husband and I stopped for lunch at Al Cardello, Via del Cardello, Rome, Italy. It is a delightful little restaurant on the corner of Via del Cardello. It was very busy but we were shown to a little table in the sunshine. We had spent all morning at the Forum. What a lot there was to see! However, we... More

This restaurant is not that bad as the previous user's reviews. We ordered the following without complaints: Osobuco - I give a 7.5 out of 10 Risotto pescatore - 8 out of 10 Pomodoro soup - 9 out of 10

I once lived in this area of Rome and remember this restaurant when it was good. Now? The worst experience I've ever had in a Roman restaurant! I think it's fraudulent of the new owners to trade on the "since 1920" reputation of the original family. As other reviewers have said, the Carbonara was the laziest, most tasteless put together...
