We were recommended to visit here by our guide. The starter of fresh salami and hams with different chutney's was very good and the pasta dish with bacon very authentic and reminded me of country cooking I had got in Tuscany in the past. Great selection of red wines on the menu, we chose the 2008 Ramitello, very smooth and... More

though we came late on a Wednesday evening, they treated us royally, offering great advice on food and wines. all was splendid...their carciofi was the best of all the carciofi I had during this time in Rome - and I had carciofi a lot! they do a slightly different take on it than the carciofi alla judea, which is even... We had a most delightful evening at Evangelista. Adele was our hostess for the evening. They are known for their artichokes roasted between bricks....they are the best I have ever eaten, hands down! I would go back for those artichokes alone! Fantastic! The rest of our dinner was equally delightful with Adele bringing more dishes for us to sample. We... More

Six months from when I was there, and with six months more before I return, I keep thinking about the evening at Evangelista. Beautiful, hot summer night, early dinner with a colleague from John Cabot, Ms. Mazzoni could not have been more gracious, the meal more beautiful and the wine truly superb, from Emilia-Romana. Nel bel mezzo di tempo tra... More

This restaurant was recommended by our friend that is a local. They always know the best places to eat! Because we went to Rome in the spring I was looking for the best artichokes in town and they told us about this restaurant! We took our daughter there on our last night in Rome. It was wonderful. We started the... More

I just came home from my first trip to Italy, where I was fortunate to be taken by my boyfriend to this lovely restaurant. The food was excellent and you can tell it was prepared with care. We had the signature artichoke appetizer, pasta (Rigatoni -gricia), and a veal dish. I like Italian food, but after two weeks in that... More

I had the famous artichokes (al mattone), crispy on the tips and soft on the inner side. Then came pasta "gricia", al dente, very very al dente ... with the super crispy bacon and the creamy white sauce, believe me, you won't find a better gricia. I also had some nice veal and an elaborate dessert with chocolate sauce and... More

Evangelista was recommended by a friend in Rome with a deep appreciation of his local culture and things well done. He also recommended - and we had - the Carciofo al Mattone, an artichoke dish that was particularly good as artichokes were in season. We also had a delicious lamb and a nice prosecco. Service? No problems there. The owner,... More

For several years we have been visiting Roman for a winter break and we always eat at Evangelista. We have never been disappointed. The baked artichoke is justifiably famous and is a must but the rest of the menu is excellent as well as is the wine list. Elegant interior and knowledgable staff all add to the attraction. Long may... More
