It was a Monday night in April. Spring in Italy is enchanting and magical. Meo Patacca only added to the magic. My husband and I arein our twenties but didnt want the loud crowds of downtown. We took a taxi from the Coliseum. We wanted an authentic italian dining experience so we asked the driver--who was Italian, where we could... More

We stumbled across this place and we thought it was great. The waiter was a bit grumpy but it was part of the charm. The food was really good and the live music made it a real experience. We would certainly visit again.

Visited this restaurant with a group of friends after the Rome marathon and to celebrate a special anniversary. The evening was almost completely ruined by the attitude and poor service of our waiter. He was grumpy to say the least and rudely replied "unavailable" to several of the dishes we requested - no apology offered. We had a fluent Italian... More

Took a while to be seated on the first night but the whole restaurant was busy with a nice atmosphere. Live entertainment with guitar and singers is part of the atmosphere but they were also very considerate of the fact that we had a 12 week old baby. The food was good with a wide range of choice and as... More

Shocking in all areas. Terrible service, food and price. May look atmospheric at first but avoid. Don't waste a night here.

We came here because we asked a friend to recommend an authentic local Roman dining experience....and we were not disappointed. A very quaint and comforting restaurant filled with live energy from a musical quartet playing Italian music. Amazing!! The food was great and the service was awesome!! A definite must if you're looking for an authentic experience off the beaten... More

Our party of 11 had a blast here! Food & service were excellent and the music was a ton of fun! Everyone was singing having a great time. A real homey/family feel with wine flowing and yummy food!

We were lucky enough to stumble across and dine at Osteria da Meo Patacca on Saturday night after the Italy v Ireland 6 Nations match and were entranced, entertained and amused by the unusual ambience and convivial music. Had great fun with our waiter, the inimitable Massimo, and loved the band. Interesting mix of people, with the long table of... More

A party of 12 visted Meo Patacca last night and couldn't have been more disappointed. We were sitting for over a half hour before our order was taken by the rudest and most aggressive waiter I have ever encountered. Most of the items we ordered were 'unavailable'. We then waited an hour before our starters arrived which were certainly not... More

We've been there twice last year, and didn't fail to disappoint. Sure, it's a tourist trap, and no, it's not a Michelin-starred restaurant, but it lays no claim to their contrary. It is what it is, and we liked it, its people, and the food - served fresh, with a smile.

Thank Nick C

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
