This place provided a welcome rest bite after tramping round the Vatican. We had soup, pasta , pizza all decent and good value. Place was full with priests having lunch which can't be a bad sign!

Staff at our hotel recommended Alfredo's and we were so glad they did. We received wonderful guidance about what and how much to order and all the choices were fantastic. Really appreciated the history of the restaurant - it really added to our evenng. A 'don't miss". For sure.

We were foot sore after vatican tour and saw this place nearby. The waiter was quite surly. The food was very average. If you can hold out after vatican visit i recommend yiu keep walking and find somewhere else.

We first came to this hostaria simply to ask directions when we were trying to find a bus stop and found them so friendly that we came back, first for a drink and then for a couple of meals. It's simple trattoria fare, but all the food is of good quality and the prices are extremely reasonable given the location... More

and give them three stars for having a place to rest our tired feet after the Vatican and for a decent bottle of wine and for a good desert (gelato tartufo or something like that.). My tortellini stuffed with ham was ok but not great, although a very generous serving. Hubby's veal steak and frites were average, again not great.... More

I thought that this was a lovely place to have lunch and warm up after a bus tour. Reasonably priced, decent portions and friendly staff. Would go again.

Our first dinner in Rome was delightful. We walked to this restaurant from the Spanish Steps with our large group. They accomidated us quite well, other than it was very warm at the back tables. The food was delicious and plentyful. The decor was interesting. A fun final evening was shared by all.

This place had the best pizzas and pasta we tasted in Rome.We went back there throughout our stay for lunch and kept trying different things. They had 2 servers who were a little flogged with work but they were still efficient. Its a nice cosy place to sit and have a beer and chill out after a long trip to the Vatican.... After a long morning at St. Peter we were stopped by a gentleman offering lunch at a traditional resurant 'just round the corner'. We took him up on this offer and walked a few steps just around the corner and into the resturant. Unlike any resturant we had so far visited in Italy (Umbria, Tuscany or Rome itself) finding a... Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
