We found this gem just east of the entrance to the vatican museums after having lunch at L'Insalata Ricca. Tough to go wrong with such a diverse selection of options, make sure you get the cream topping! If you're unsure what to choose, they can provide free samples. Four of us ate for 16 euros, the only problem was the... More

Found this whilst wandering back from the Vatican on a Sunday evening, very welcoming attendant and delicious ice cream, we even got seconds! Excellent value for money too, very inexpensive compared to some other gelaterias close by. Will definitely be returning during our stay :)

This tiny gelateria has a nice selection of flavors at very reasonable prices, served up in large scoops by the nice man behind the counter. There's even a bench outside so you can sit and enjoy your gelato. Really, what more could you want?

Our side of Rome had a blackout and it was hot. Very hot! Gelateria Pierrot's colourful bright lights on Piazza Risorgimento, close to the Vatican was a saving Grace. Inside is a gelato counter with trays of sweet, mouth-watering home-made treats, served generously with your choice of a cup or cone, and handed with a smile. I enjoyed the coconut,... More

Of all the gelaterias in Italy, I think this is my favorite so far. However, it was our first, and we were VERY hot and hungry, so take it for what it's worth. The owner was very nice and his scoops are generous. And I think it was delicious!

The ice cream was vp fantastic. Authentic favors, very reasonable priced. The owner (and his little girl) were gracious hosts. I had stracciella and variegated Nutella...yum! It is a quick stroll from the Vatican.

They have many flavors of real home-made gelato at a reasonable price. They have many authentic flavors to choose from in both cones a cups. It even comes with whipped cream!

We had the pleasure of staying right next door and my son wanted gelato from there everyday which says a lot since he is the pickiest eater. Staff is friendly and compared to other places the price was great. A must try!

Great ice cream and good choice. A popular stop off on our way home. Very popular with locals as well as passing tourists. Closed Sunday evenings.

On hot days, there's a line out the door, and for good reason. Gelateria Pierrot has some of the best variety of flavors I've seen at any gelateria in Rome. I've stopped in on two separate occasions and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Staying in Prati

Neighbourhood Profile
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
