Honestly, the mixed seafood starter is to die foe. Plump anchovies, octopus carpaccio....yum The food was delicious, the staff charming and helpful. What's not to love?!

A weekend away in Rome. Looking for another restaurant but stumbled across this one. Service was welcoming and friendly. My partner had a lovely starter off fresh fish and I had something deep fat fried. Her starter was awesome. We opted for pasta for our main meal and it was fantastic. Made us realise we over cook out pasta! Overall... More

This is a fine little restaurant, very good food, very kind and freindly wait staff. Our food was freshly prepared and very tasty, typical Roman, not as good as Florence, but not as expensive either!

This food is really bad. We ordered the lamb cutlets with artichoke and the entire meal was deep fried, yuk! The suckling pig was clearly reheated from the day before and was basically just a piece of roast pork. The potatos with it tasted days old. It was our last meal in Italy and it was just terrible.

We stumbled across this place on a busy Saturday night after trying several restaurants throughout Trastevere - all were either booked solid or had lengthy waits. They were able to seat us right away, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! The house wine was great, we had the homemade pasta carbonara as well as... More

We are staying right across the Ponte Sisto bridge and found this restaurant while strolling through Trastevere. We sat outside in a pretty side alley. We started with an appetizer of mozzarella in carrozza with anchovies. It was light and crunchy on the outside, creamy and salty on the inside. Delicious. I had a lamb special at the recommendation of... More

We had a great find in Rome that I hope you can experience on your adventures. We started with a beautiful plate of antipasti. The wine choice was calling for a second bottle. We loved the location and felt the restaurant seating was very comfortable. Our main course was homemade mushroom ravioli and lasagna. It truly was the best meal... More

I was a little worried that the location on the northern end of the bridge was going to be one of those tourist traps. But no. This was humble family cooking. Great value and well positioned. We were surrounded by Italian families who had all bee to the Papal Mass earlier in the day. Finely sliced fillet beet cooked in... More

We dropped into Osteria Ponte Sisto while visiting Trastevere when we saw their sign for a 15 Euro lunch deal. The down side was that I needed gluten free and this couldn't be accommodated within the deal. The food was terrific and the end result was that it didn't cost us much more than 30 Euros for lunch, albeit with... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
