This is a good Tuscan restaurant in the middle of Rome. The pasta is good plus the meat dishes. I would recommend the fiorentina steak which is the Italian equivalent of a thick porterhouse steak. The steak should be accompanied by a red wine from Tuscany. Either a chianti, brunello or rosso di Montalcino.

We had 2 dinenrs here, one in a small group, that was absolutely satisfying, and one with a group of 40 people, that was not nearly up to the same quality. But anyway we recommend it. Moderate (for Rome) prices, and the location 50 m from the opera.

We visited this restaurant twice while in Rome and I wish we had not gone back a second time! Had I reviewed the restaurant after our first visit I would have given them 5 stars but for our second visit I would have only given them 2 stars! I would recommend this restaurant but choose carefully from the menu and... More

We ate here 3 times during a week's stay in Rome. The food was very good and the staff delightfully helpful. The restaurant is pleasantly classically styled, so it was overall a great experience. Since we ate on the early side (by 7pm) it was also very quiet (the first restaurant we ate at was very noisy so we didn't... More

We stopped at this ristorante after we saw a ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera. Our waiter (forgive me for not asking his name...could kick myself!!!), was Johnny on the spot! He did not let our drinks empty and he catered to our every need. We were so please and just loved how he hustled. AND!! The food was spectacular! I... More

Three person visit. Lots of noise but no substance. Reviews crap on about quick service yes quick but look whats delivered, mediocre to poor result. Our bread consisted of what looked like supermarket packaged biscuits, no olive oil or butter. Dont remember entrees they were so impressive. I ordered veal scalopine, a few strips were presented with light non descipt... More

Dear Sir/Mrs, your review look strange to us. We apologize if there has been a mistake in the bill. This is NOT usual as you stated, we are all humans and it can happen, hopefully very rarely. The bread is not served with butter as it's not an Italian tradition but olive oil is always on the table and butter... More

We found this restaurant by chance. It looked impressive and lived up to our expectations. We started with antipasti of Italian meats, olives and sun-dried tomatoes and followed with fresh tuna and salad. All top class and served by attentive waiters. Desserts were of a similar standard. One interesting thing is that if you book your table in advance you... More

Myself and my wife hand an excellent meal this evening at Ristorante del Giglio in Rome. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. I had the roast lamb and my wife had baked turbot with the house wine. This was all great value for money and to be thoroughly recommended.

This was recommended by a fellow tourist, and we weren't disappointed. Top-end looking place, white-jacketed waiters, superb service, but very welcoming and very reasonably priced food. Nice cocktails, great wine recommendation, and pasta and veal were delicious. With dessert and coffee the bill was 100 euros for two. Other comments about the grumpy-looking owner were misplaced - he was smiling... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
