It's never easy to find a good afforable restaurant in a foreign city but when you notice that you hardly see any tourist going inside (January) it means you have a chance to get your money worth and have a great evening. So go and experience it yourself!

La Duca was recommended to us by locals so we had to try it. It was a superb meal. I would highly suggest anyone to experience it.

I enjoyed a casual dinner here with friends in October. We were able to walk in and be seated, no reservation needed. We ended up dining here on a Wednesday evening, we had tried for the day before but they were closed. Not sure if this was a special instance or if they are always closed on Tuesdays.

Got dropped in Trastevere and stumbled on Il Duco. From the start staff were friendly. Menu offered great choice of dishes and the four we had were authentic Italian. Table next to us had leg of Lamb...jealous! Good wine solution and great atmosphere completed a great meal. Highly recommend.

Stumbled across this gem looking for a nice place for dinner and saw it was full of Italians and knew immediately we'd be in for a good meal. And wow was I right. Had the carbonara and I never knew it could taste this good. Definitely recommended.

We had homemade spinach and cheese ravioli with black truffle sauce and it was exceptional. The sautéed chicory and beef tenderloin with cherry tomatoes and arugula were also very delicious. The warm apple pie with rum ice cream were well paired. This restaurant serves authentic Italian food which is not found on the other side of the bridge. Our waiter... More

The best food I had in Rome. We ordered lasagna al forno which was great and ravioli di ricotta e spinaci con crema di tartufo nero which was one of the most amazing foods I`ve ever had. Also the carciofi alla giudia (jewish style) were delicious. The service is excellent and also the wine is great. Everything was perfect. I... More

We went to "IL duca" for dinner tonight. Our waiter, mid- fifty, with a goat beard attending the tables at the front left, was very unprofessional and irrespecful. His attitude was arrogant and dismissive and did everything to make us feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed...He did a mistake with our dish and make us wonder if it was a genuine mistake... More

Visited the restaurant while on a business trip. Very impressed by the service and genuinity of the foods. all items are freshly prepared by very talented chefs. Past and meats are to die for. Very highly recommended to all!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
