What an amazing menu and what lovely people and the bonus was, they had the footie on..yessss. This little gem of a place was dirt cheap in comparison to other places we ate and it is true that the closer to the Vatican one gets, the higher the prices but this place was so cheap and they had German beers... We ate there on our first night in Rome on 9/5/15. The owner of the B & B we were staying @, Luca, took us there after we checked in. The ristorante was an eclectic mix of German & Italian food. I had the smoked swordfish, which was excellent along with some average pasta. The service was very good &... More

If you're yearning for some German beer as a change from Italian options, this is your place. We weren't, but we were trying to get away from the immediate tourist-zone around the Vatican and we were hungry. So this place was ok in that regard. Service was average, food was average, cost was average. For the area, that was probably... More

we were looking for a place to eat without spending too much in the Vatican area and we found Franz. It is a very nice Bavarian-like restaurant where it is possible to drink good bear and eat both German (in the italin way) and Italian dishes. The place is nice, food is good and prices are good too. Just an... More

Great Italian restaurant with a really good range of food. The staff were really friendly and didn't stop smiling (always makes such a big difference). What a great place! A block from our hotel, which made it that much better. The food was great, the service was friendly, and the value was tremendous! Big restaurant, with some sidewalk tables, with... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighbourhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighbourhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighbourhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
