We had dinner here our last night in Rome.. service by Lucca was fantastic and the food delicious. We started with the lobster in spinach sauce.. it was good, however if you are not a fan of a roe or slightly fishy taste it may not be for you - I think they use the inside of the lobster head... This restaurant is hidden away in Via degli Spagnoli but is fairly easy to find. My husband had the lobster with puréed spinach to start and said it was the best starter he'd ever had. The food was excellent as was the wine. Highly recommended!

Booked this on our first night in Rome after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. Fabulous. We loved. Small, and in a back street. Took a bit of finding. Could not fault the meal or service. We shared meats and cheeses, then both had pasta. Mine with a chestnut sauce was devine. Full of Italians. Good sign. Would go back.

I booked this meal for us as our first meal in Rome. We were not disappointed! We started with several appetizers: Filet with pork cheek and the very large meat and cheese tray with toppings. Awesome! We were worried we wouldn't have room for more. Our primi courses were also wonderful! I personally had the black truffle carbonara and I... More

On our failed attempt to get to a nearby shop we decided to stop here for dinner. It is very small and there was only one other couple in the place but honestly after going to a few restaurants that were crammed this was a welcome change. The gentlemen that served us was great! He was attentive without being annoying... More

A great meal at an unbelievably low price. The ricotta with black truffle starter -- and the anchovie/battarga torta were both brilliant. This is a welcome alternative to Piazza Novona tourist traps! A small lovely restaurant with genuinely creative cooking.

The place is small, so book it if you want to come. It is a great restaurant in a small location. The food is superb. Price is fare... but not cheap. Traditional Italian food. Do not order Roman food.. but any past is amazing.

Absolutely charming little restaurant off the beaten path in the heart of Rome and worth the effort to find it. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this little gem. The food was delicious, service excellent, and it was quite reasonable for appetizers, pastas, and a bottle of wine.

My wife and I like to wander the tiny streets of Rome hoping to find the little jewels of restaurants that pop up around the next corner. Il Bacaro is exactly that kind of place. We stumbled on to it when we were in Rome 3 years ago and when we were back this October went looking for it again.... More
