Picked up by accident. I made a reservation but it was almost empty which is not a good thing. But the food was excellent. We tried carbonara. Very balanced and not very eggy. Two other pastas with bacon, one with white sauce and the other with red. And a calzone. Very tasty food; the children loved it. The house red... More

We ended up at Al Vantaggio because 3 other places were fully booked. So when we checked online to see what was still available, Al Vantaggio came up as a place that was closeby, had a relatively good review and had a table for 5. So we headed out that way. We were not dissapointed! The service was so friendly,... More

Great experience. Our waiter Alam was very pleasant and helpful. Portions were massive and really good quality food. Really enjoyed our meal here; one of the best we have had!

We started with the bruschetta and it was almost inedible. I ordered the rigatoni with a tomato based sauce and found it bland. My partner ordered the carbonara and enjoyed it. The service was very slow. In addition to this, seeing the manager's rude responses to some of the reviews below really demonstrates their knowledge of customer service.

We had a dinner here for the last night we were in Rome. My husband and I have two fussy teenagers and the whole dining experience was exceptional. As the title states the staff, food, prices and entertainment was outstanding. I would like to make a special mention of the waiter who served us on the evening we dined and... More

We had a very good lunch at Al Vantaggio. Fiori de Zucca, a specialty, followed by abbachio (lamb) for me and my wife. Everything well prepared and tasty. Price was also good. We stayed for a long time and had a wonderful time! Very good and no-intrusion service. If you are close to Piazza dei Popoli, you should go there!

I have been coming here for the the last 15 years. The food is always consistently good, house wine is great and the staff is amazing. Thank you Al Ventaggio for so many great dinners and memories. Can't wait to come back. PS...the fiori di zucco was amazing!

Rude staff, never gave a single smile or was welcoming in any kind of way. I sent back my rare and bloody piece of fillet that was suposed to be medium and none of the waitors apologised or anything - even worse - they tried to suggest that I was wrong and that that was a medium fillet when the... Just off the heaving via del Corso you will find an outpost of civility and authentic Roman feeling in Al Vantaggio. Founded in 1920, this traditional eaterie was originally a tavern for carriage drivers, but now has a much more comfortable ambience half-paneled walls, 17th century style frescoes, white tablecloths, artfully folded napkins, air conditioning. Run by a pair of brothers who grew up with this restaurant and are dedicated to it, Al Vantaggio is a relaxing and elegant place to enjoy a true Roman kitchen with a few Calabrian twists. Dishes include a rather spectacular spaghetti con frutti di mare, rich oxtail stew, and home made tiramis. Italian wines complete the picture.
