The best part of this restaurant is its decoration; that and the focus on regional fare drew us in. We were disappointed. The other negative reviews pretty much say it all: for example, I watched the staff play with their smart phones while I tried to eat soup (which, incidentally, was cold) with a fork. We could not get our... More

The food was cold and quite scarce for the price. The service did not exist and the bathroom was at the state of a train station not a restaurant. Worst experience in Rome, there are tons of better places to go. A shame.

Despite being in the '13/14 edition of the slow food guide, was very disappointed by our visit. This place has a kind of brightly lit, shiny surface, cold, modern, high contrast vibe going on. Service was pretty inattentive, we had to ask for menu's, ask to order, ask twice for water... Primi came out with a different pasta than what... More

Lovely stylish place between the via del Corso and the Spanish Steps. Ate in the smaller downstairs dining area by the bar - highly recommend it. Could watch the outside and the doings at the bar in a nice atmosphere. All locals it appeared. Couples, several groups of friends. Some people looked like they just came for wine and an... More

This restaurant was near my hotel, had a sleek modern look, and was recommended in a couple guide books so I thought I would give it a try. What a mistake that was! Upon arriving, my husband and I ordered drinks and an appetizer and our meals. The drinks and appetizer came in a fairly timely manner. The wine was... More

We booked a five-night stay in Rome at the Residenza Frattina town house (by the way an exellent stay), and on our last evening we didn't want to go dining out far, so we went to Palatium and it was absolutely the most horrific experience ! The food was awfull, cold and of poor quality.Three waiters, all of them uninterested,... More

We went to this restaurant based on reviews. True it is close to the Spanish Steps, but other than that the reviews were very wrong. As we walked in we were immediately sent upstairs because we had no reservation, to an extremely sterile and uninviting room. The wine was fine though and the prices appeared to be reasonable so we... More

The food at Palatium was amazing. The clam gnocchi is the best gnocchi I have ever eaten! It was fairly easy to find, and became quite busy; luckily we called ahead and reserved a table. We had some local wine, which was delicious, and felt well-looked after by the staff. Fantastic food!

Palatium Enoteca Regionale - Via Frattina, 94 Rome I wrote “never again” in my last review of this restaurant. Our first visit several years ago was amazing; impossible to fault. The following year the experience was unforgettably bad, and we crossed it off our list, vowing never to return. Recently on our last day in Rome, our legs were crying... More

While a trendy place with, at times, interesting dishes it's staff seems rather tired or bored. The selection of wine was limited when one considers the variety of wines that are available in Lazio. The suggestions of the staff for wine were rather incoherent and much too vague. Much more could be done with the place. It has good potential... More

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighbourhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (21:00), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
