My wife and I decided to hit some Japanese restaurants for dinner while at Rome as we did not want to return home with 5 extra kilos, a couple would do nicely! We went a couple of times and by far the best of all the Japanese restaurants. We sat by the bar and saw the subhuman/women go at it... More

Whilst Hamasei would not rate 5 in japan it is still very very good japanese in Rome and japanese owned with courses prepared to the usual high japenese level of care/precision - really enjoyed and nice break from the predominant italian restaurants.

FAMILY was visiting and after 3 days of pastas, primi piatti e secondi piatti folks wanted something's little different. Hamasei did not disappoint. It's a little on the pricey side (for sushi/sashimi) but solid. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and the service was as it should be: courteous and on point. It was also nice to see Italians,... More

Hamasei is Roman institution. Their sushi/sashimis are very well prepared with excellent products. The owner even say the quality of the fish he buys every day is higher compared to the main fish market of Tokyo. Difficult to verify but I can tell you that I would give him the benefit of the doubt. We also ordered some tempuras and... More

Life lesson, Italians don't know how to do Asian Food. This is a restaurant manned by Asians but aimed at people who don't know good Japanese food. To be fair the Sashimi was half decent but the maki etc was a bit dull. The tepenyaki course was effectively a George Foreman grill that you put your own food on like... More

Was invited to this restaurant by a Japanese friend living in Rome. Was very pleased with the dining experience. Food was great as was the service. Dined midweek and restaurant was quite full which seemed to indicate that the establishment had a following. . Would happily return.

We just had dinner at hamasei tonight and we are very satisfied. Both service and food were very good. We ordered a lot of food and we spent something absolutely reasonable. It's a place I would surely visit again when in Rome. Minor generic subjective details about the restaurant are refraining me from giving 5 stars, but it's just a... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighbourhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very centre of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping centre, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
