I had one thing in mind when I decided to book this small trip to Italy, pasta. I told the receptionist I traveled far to eat the best they have to offer. She can see in my eyes I was a man that was determined to reignite my childhood memories. She gave me a back up plan just in case... More

Was recommended this restaurant by a colleague who lives in Rome. You would never call in if walking past! It has a very small entrance and small front eating area, but much bigger in the back. Old style italian with garlic strings hanging from roof. We went on a cold evening in January and it was packed! Lots of locals... More

First of all we waited for one and a half hour to get a table. To be service minded you tell your guests that it will take more than one hour to get the table. Not pretending that you're about to get it in a minute! I don't like to write bad things on TripAdvisor, but sometimes you just have... More

OK so this is not a Michelin 5 star but this was one of our better meals after two weeks in Italy. Suggested by our hotel, they said just go and no reservations needed. They were just barely correct. We got there about 15 minutes after they opened and were lucky to be seated. We saw others come in with... More

Since Nov16 when almost incidentally came first time to La Fraschetta we are visiting every time we are in Rome. To our tastes, we find here the best pasta in Rome and beyond. Roman pizza is also at it's best. Simply great food, very highly recommended; very good prices too (though to an extent beside the point). As we recently... More

Going in to this place, I felt local. The staff was friendly and helpful but the food was soooo good! Everything was perfect. We ordered the house wine which was cheap and great. I highly recommend it!

This restaurant was a great introduction to Rome. The waiters spoke Italian but we managed somehow :) My classic roman salad was soooo fresh and the rigatoni ala carbonara was to die for! Loved the atmosphere of this little "hole in the wall".

Just dropped there for late lunch. They offered three choices for primi piati and three for secondi piati. Tried coda alla vaccinara and two pasta dish, all great taste for very reasonable prices. Definitely not the fanciest trattoria but worth to visit.

I imagine an American family that visit this place ordering an italian pizza and they get to see a children's pizza..

I have been going to this restaurant since its opening 40 years ago. The decor has not changed since then and neither has the quality of its food. This is because whilst ownership has changed, it has passed on to those who have worked in the restaurant for a very long time. Judging from the people queuing outside the restaurant... More

Description
"La Fraschetta" di via San Francesco a Ripa è caratteristico, intimo e grazioso; propone un servizio cordiale e brillante, candidandosi senza difficoltà sia come ideale rifugio per una coppia in cerca di riservatezza sia per cene di lavoro e ritrovi amicali in una cornice neorustica e famigliare. La cucina, tendenzialmente vincolata alla nostra adorabile tradizione romana, spazia, con stile, dalla coda alla vaccinara agli spaghetti alla carbonara. Dolci sempre fatti in casa. Molto buona la carta dei vini; non mancano bianco e rosso della casa. Il locale è stato inaugurato nel 1976: lo staff proviene dalle esperienze di Ciceruacchio e Meo Patacca.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
