Found the place on our way back from the Vatican, so lucky. Typical Italian lunch place, nothing fancy, just real food among locals. The bistecca de Manzo was INSANELY good. Pasta was simply amazing. Service was quick and friendly. House wine was good enough. Fairly priced. Thank you!

It Was Saturday evening (20:30-21:00) the place was full and we waited about 30m in line. After that the service was very slow and the waiters ignored the clients. We had to signalized with hand all the time to order something. My wife ordered pizza (she didn't like) and I ordered pasta Gorgonzola (it was good). The price was reasonable.

I visited Fridat night, there was a big queue in order to get a table. This is a good sign! I gave my name and waited. After about half an hour I was able to try the pasta which, as I was promised, they would blow my mind. Their carbonara is the reinvention of carbonara!! Just try it.

A narrow entrance leads into a spacious restaurant decorated like an old Italian Tratoria. Not a tourist trap. Most of the tables were occupied by Italians. Excellent service and delicious food. Both the first and the main courses were very tasty and well prepared. Reasonably priced. Will go back.

The pizza and tiramisu was delicious!! Would definitely recommend and would certainly go back. Conveniently located near the spanish steps The staff are just so friendly and helpful. They all spoke english and assisted whenever we asked them to. This was our first taste of a proper italian pizza and the expectations we had were not ruined by any means.... More

We were trying to find I Suppli, in truth, but we stumbled on this place and walked in. We ordered two pizzas, both of which were delicious and well portioned. The pirces were great and the staff friendly. I was pleased with this place!

Definitely a place to have a traditional italian dinner in Rome, in particular in Trastevere neighbourhood. The restaurant has a really nice italian atmosphere, packed with locals and foreigners who had the chance to give it a try. We waited one hour for a table and the restaurant is not small at all. But, Lord, it was worthy! We were... More

Found the restaurant by mistake, checked the first few reviews and it all looked good. Service was slow, food was bland.

I have been taken here by my sister and all her family. They live in Rome and they told me this is a MUST GO place. And they are right. The location in Trastevere makes it really central in the city. The atmosphere in this place is of old times...... it is almost like stepping into history. The low ceiling... More

"La Fraschetta" di via San Francesco a Ripa è caratteristico, intimo e grazioso; propone un servizio cordiale e brillante, candidandosi senza difficoltà sia come ideale rifugio per una coppia in cerca di riservatezza sia per cene di lavoro e ritrovi amicali in una cornice neorustica e famigliare. La cucina, tendenzialmente vincolata alla nostra adorabile tradizione romana, spazia, con stile, dalla coda alla vaccinara agli spaghetti alla carbonara. Dolci sempre fatti in casa. Molto buona la carta dei vini; non mancano bianco e rosso della casa. Il locale è stato inaugurato nel 1976: lo staff proviene dalle esperienze di Ciceruacchio e Meo Patacca.

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
